There is indeed no reason to buy a M5 over a M550i other than a person wants one for their own reasons. That is all the justification needed. Who is to say there should be a reason why someone buys a given car or anything else? You could argue this all the way down to there is no reason for a luxury car. No reason for any luxury amenities. People can buy what they want. I consider the M5 simply because I want one. I would never take it to a race track, would probably never use launch control and definitely never explore the abilities that are beyond a 540 let alone a M550i. In the end if someone wants a M5 or whatever and have the money to buy it, who is to say they should not have one and not have to read comments from the consumer police.

I'd admit I would have been plenty happy with the M5 looks and the M550 engine. Wouldn't went M550 if I simply didn't like the M5 body better. I like the additional options the 550 comes with that you can't get with M5 (at the time of purchase). If I wanted a true M I wouldn't have bought a 5. But also think the 2 series is not an attractive car. 3 series M is the sweet spot for me. For that kind of stuff. But I do enjoy the abilities of the M. The ride is perfect. Stiff but not insane for a DD.

Looks like Youtubers will be releasing previews of the CS in January. (Saw this in RBR's) video of the M8C. I assume they are under embargo right now.

This is a car that will look great with a black exterior and gold wheels.

Well done BMW marketing, a heavy CS version of M5.
LCI upgraded, with probably side holes in the seats and a tune, CS badging.
Lets add 30 K to the price .
.1 sec fast then comp, 0.2 sec faster then standard. Sign me up.
Not that I'm butt hurt for owning a first gen F90. but if your gonna make the car then make the car. Let an M5 be an M5 - not 5 variants of it.

EDIT: - I am going to ask IND to make me an M5GTS Badge. this way I'm ahead of the game , lol.
I'm going to hold out for the M5CSGTXLTRSabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz
