Not surprised at all. They’re both fantastic cars.

Indeed but I would still personally take the M5 CS

Before I even watch it, CarWow has had the 911 Turbo S to a 10.1. This should be no contest. Let's see how it goes.

Edit: Ah, it's not a Turbo S. But it's about what I expected.

These drag races are silly. Speed limit on US Freeways range between 65 mph - 85 mph. My 2020 330i turbo-4 cylinder does it 0-60 in 5.4 seconds. So what is the point?

The M5 is a great car, no question. But is still a 5-Series on STEROIDS. Yes, I get it, engine, transmission, brakes, power, etc. are different from a regular 5-Series. But still, it is a 5-Series on Steroids if you want to be honest with your self.

The Porsche 911 is in a league of its own. Its suspension/chassis + handling is unlike any other car in its segment. Add in its weight and that rear engine configuration and no one comes close. The 911 drive is completely different from any other car in the segment, period.

Who cares if another car wins a silly drag race by 0. something seconds?

Yeah and the evolve 1000hp m5 did it in 10.0, so it was pretty obvious the turbo s will walk the m5 cs

Sooo one fast car is overkill for the roads but the more expensive fast car is amazing and not overkill?

have you driven an M5? I think it's justified and depending on where you live the speed limit is merely a suggestion so there's always a way to safely enjoy performance vehicles both on and off the track.

Don't know why people take the time to squawk about the "leagues" of the cars when this stuff is clearly just plain fun shits and giggles.

I enjoyed it!

The M5 CS (and likely M8/M5C) is faster than every Porsche V8 on offer today, so no, Porsche is not in a different league.

The 911 is in its own category but it's different from the M5 in just about every area, so no surprises on the performance outcomes.

Having a sedan be seriously compared to one of the fastest sports cars in production is an honor by itself

Great job bmw!

*not to mentioned tuned m5's rip apart those porsches but that's not fair tuned to stock

Solid performance and it held it ground!

Two very different cars, but amazing to see a 4 door sedan hold its own. The 911 Turbo is a beast in a straight line, but I would argue the driving experience is relatively bland (I had a 997 Turbo S, amazing car but definitely focused on the balance between speed and comfort), making the m5cs a more enjoyable car. I've got a 997 GT2 and the difference between that and the Turbo or Turbo S is night and day. I bet the m5cs smokes my GT2 in a straight line, but on a track…very different story. These comparisons are awesome to watch. Kudos to BMW for building a sedan that appeals to a select few enthusiasts. I've got mine on order!

I could watch this video...but I just keep thinking "why"?

On the other hand, many are familiar with George Mallory's response on why he wanted to climb Mount Everest...so I'll leave now.

I know the turbo S is wicked fast you have to go into Laferrari and so on to compete with it. With the the 911 turbo i figured being that M5CS pulled on a red eye hellcat it would start reel the Porsche in on the top end but still lose the drag but get it in the roll. But I can't say I'm surprised when you factor in the very conservative engine rating with the PDK and difference in weight it'a not shocking.

Being that that MSCS is tracked oriented and removed most of the luxury I rather take the Porsche in this case. On the flip side I rather take a M5 competition over both those cars get the luxury with similar performance.
