Performance tested my new M5 Competition LCI great VBOX results!

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Car is bone stock Eu spec 2021 with particular filters and has Pirelli tires. Only just over 1000km/620miles but first run in service has been done.

Results:
1/4 mile 10.74@208,7km/h/129,7mph
0-100km/h/0-62mph 2.83sec

This on a regular road tested with a VBOX Sport.

Only tested the 1/4 mile once but thought thats good enough
And accordingly to the manual the launch control adjust itself to the conditions if you make more runs.
Did a 0-100km/h run on a road with newer asphalt and did shave off a little time but there wasn't enough room for a full 1/4 mile run.

Very happy with the results and car ,its a monster spinning all four wheels when launching

Fantastic times, would have loved a 0 - 160km/ph, 0 - 100 mph time, for some reason, this is always my benchmark. Thanks for sharing. Do you need anything quicker for the road ?, i dont think so really .

Do these numbers take the traditional 1ft of rollout into account?

The perf measurement devices usually enable or disable rollout across all of their capabilities. Those numbers make more sense in that light.

With a simple piggyback (and including the same rollout), the 0-60 drops to 2.4s and the 1/4 mile to 10.16s at 133mph.

Great numbers stock; mind blowing with a $900 owner-installed mod.

That could be the case but the 1 foot rollout is same as on the dragstrip and how most people measures the time with their devices.

Low 10's is crazy fast with only a piggyback

To my mind, credible results must discard the 1ft rollout advantage. Dragstrips don't use it… at least not the ones I've been to.

Great numbers!!! I can't wait until my 1200 mile service check is done so I can add my RC, filters, etc. and get some dragy runs in.

All NHRA certified dragstrips use rollout. Varies from 12”-14” plus or minus a bit depending on who sets up the eye blocks and if they want some record runs. At NHRA events, they keep it with in spec. Let’s you deep stage, etc.

Dragstrips do exclude the rollout when ET is calculated. Thus the reason that the inertial & gps timing gear, which can detect movement immediately, allow for the capability to mimic dragstrip results.

Racelogic's explanation of rollout.

The dragstrip timing equipment is unable to detect the 1st foot of movement due to design limitations. ET starts when the front tire clears the start line. The visual indicator of this is the 2nd staging light. If you were to draw a line where the front of the car is when the light goes on and off they would be approximately 1 foot apart.

Beautiful.

So, Marina Bay Blue is key to getting into the 10's.

I wonder how much is gained from having Frozen Marina Bay Blue.

Nature as a role model: Lufthansa Group and BASF roll out sharkskin technology

Evidently having micro ripples in surface structure lowers drag coefficient and improves efficiency of movement through the air. Seems to me that Frozen paint should also enable a 1% improvement over gloss.

Regards,

Daniel
