Just came across the article. Nice read but was baffled by the M5 Comp's performance figures and drivers comments...

Supposedly run exclusively in 2WD?

yeah Wolf a lot of discussion on this article in the main forum--- I pointed out early on that the drivers notes are clearly stating 2WD mode which is stupid.

Thanks Vic! Didn't see that thread but if in 2wd, 3.3s to 60 would be phenomenal

If BMW would buy more advertisement in RT , RT would use AWD and LC in their tests. Major FAIL @RoadandTrack.

Saw that. Thanks but looking at the notes, they still seemed a bit ambiguous as to if they used 2wd mode throughout all tests on the sheet.

Too me 3.3 to 60 on rwd only sounds almost too good, given what the F10’s were able to do. Has any M5 owner been able to match that?

Im not sure, its true that its not clear but if they used a different mode would not they mention that?

but clearly based on members's results here, the trap speeds are way off too. I just think there is something else missing in this test.

I owned 2 F10's and traction was an issue out of the gate but from my personal view part of the reason was the shitty electronic differential. The ZF tranny coupled with a better differential does allow for more traction in the 2wd department on my F90 (especially via launches).

I don't know who did the drag test but the track test driver Hildebrand should be competent. He is a Indy car driver and nearly won the 2011 Indy 500 (placed second).

Drag test matches perfectly with my Dragy and vtknight drag strip passes , both without using Launch Control. If you Launch without Boost, you get the RT results. Fake News. Lol.

How professional is this ???

I just read the full article and wonder how professional this test is.
Where are the settings used for the lap times ? no info
"I hated the steering": well I do not appreciate approximations... what is there to hate ? too heavy steering ? non linear ? no detail given
And these are just two examples which make me wonder how seriously you can take this article in consideration.
Sport Auto at least does a better job...
