Ok. Faster though? In what metric? 0-60? F90 has it beat. 0-100? Again f90. 1/4 mile? I believe the m5c wins again no? So faster on a road course? Lap times? Etc? I honestly don’t know. As far as handling goes. You are the first person I believe I’ve heard say the rs7 was the better handling car. Isn’t it heavier than the f90 by approx 3/400 lbs as well? I mean I would love to see a direct comparison video on the rs7 perf vs f90 lci. Anything I find is old. Like one year or more old info wise. I know that pound for pound the rs7 perf is decidedly more expensive. I just don’t know if you actually get any thing more for that extra money? These are the things I would like to hear.

The butt dyno feels better in the Audi. The Audis just launch wayy better than the F90. The M5's TQ nannies ruin the launch, I don't think the M8 suffers from the same issue, but I could be wrong. My buddies RS7 is just a better feeling car in every aspect. I think it handles better and from the line it's just more fun. I won't be keeping this F90 past the summer, I feel like even my X5M F85 and E70 launched harder off the line, there was no bogging down. Something strange happens off the line that absolutely ruins the car. At a roll its smooth acceleration but again it just doesn't give me that jolt I got from driving the RS7.

Believe me, it pains me more than anyone to admit all of this.

Chassis wise, it's the C7, not the new C8, but the C7(2012-2018) chassis for the A/S/RS cars are all pretty damn good, so imagine the C8 is as well. My A6 feels light and nimble in corners while the F90 feels heavy and is getting better(with the Dinan suspension parts/KW HAS kit) now, but stock feels much heavier and I want to go slower in the corners with it. There is a ~400lb difference between the two though, with the F90 being heavier. My tuned A6 can hang from a standstill until about 45mph, then the F90 starts walking it. I wouldn't kick either car out of my garage though, and would hope the C8 chassis for the Audi's is a step ahead of the C7's, but they are getting porky just like the new G90's will be. Comically, the Audi now has 61k miles on it and has never had one single issue, even with it being tuned for the last 30k miles, just oil changes and maintenance; meanwhile I've only had the F90 since last summer and it's been in the shop 5 different times for warrantable issues already...
Coincidently I went through the exact same journey (minus the tuning part). I bought a 2015 A6 3.0 brand new, used it as a daily driver for a long time and then bought a new 2023 F90. I love the A6 and still own it, it’s now used by a family member. It’s nimble, fun to drive, and remained problem free for 85K miles. Nothing but regular maintenance. Recently had the first non maintenance issue (breather valve above the supercharger needs replacement) but it’s not very expensive and one issue after almost 10 years of ownership is no big deal

Being said that, there is literally no comparison between A6 and F90 M5. M5 is superior in every way. I actually cross shopped M5 with RS7 but preferred M5 handling and acceleration.

Audis are great cars, but M5 is M5

Yes RS7 and M5 are the correct comparison I agree. Most people say this exact thing. The m5 handles better and is faster on the street and track.

Sure, from a power perspective, but it's all the same chassis between the C8 A/S/RS6 and 7's, as was the 2012-2018 C7 A/S/RS 6 and 7 models. The A/S 8's are a different chassis altogether(aka big boat).

I’m gonna go on the other side here and say that if the RS7 Performance was as cheap as a M5, I’d be in one right now.

The Performance trim is new enough to where you’re not gonna find a lot of people who have significant seat time in them. For me, the M5 doesn’t look bad, but it’s more of a sleeper design. Plus the interior is getting old at this point. The RS7 just looks newer and special. It’s a polarizing shape though, I didn’t like the sportback shape when it came out.

The M5 being ever so slightly faster than the RS7 is pointless to me, since I’m not a track star squeezing every last tenth out of the car, and if I was, I’d get a Porsche not a M5.

Anyways. The M5's a great car. But the RS7 is my answer. Or be like me and drive the last ICE M5 for a couple years and get into a RS7 later.

I have had two F90 m5s and now a C8 RS7 with every single option. I prefer driving feel of the RS7. The Quattro and RWS gives me extreme confidence. Mine has upgraded sway bars and the CETE lowering module. Also mine is tuned. The RS7 looks exotic and much more aggressive than the M5. The performance is negligible because I have a dedicated sports car for the track.

Yea but pretty sure the M5C competitor is the S7. The RS7 trounces the M5. I think the RS7 compares to the M8C.

I owned the W213 E63 S and the F90 M5, and to this day, the one I miss the most out of the two, is the E 63 S, although I will concede the F90 M5 is a better all rounder. The E 63 is a hot-rod made into a executive saloon, the M5 is an executive saloon that likes to go for thrills. The M5, was a far better car for longer journeys though, and far superior as an all rounder proposition (more comfortable, less road noise, better tech, better ride)

I have had a go at the new C8 RS6. I was underwhelmed with its straight line speed. Its far slower than the other two. Its less of a hooligan in the corners too, it feels more planted but with lower speeds, its less nimble.

However, its such a great car to ride, it rides so well, and its so comfortable and pleasant to be, that I would actually consider one. It looks so damn sexy as well.

I can't fault any of the three cars, its all a matter of personal preference and deal. To me all 3 are spectaculars, and the end of an era, which we were happy to have lived and experienced.

I had this issue in my M5 F90. I got to drive it after I sold and it had a transmission update, and it was a lot better. I simply could not use launch control on mine, it would never engage or it would bog, or it wouldn't upshift into 2. When I wanted to play, I just brakeboosted with D3 and Sport Plus everything.

That did the trick 98% of the time.

I think the F90 is better compared to the S6 or A6 but the RS is on another planet in terms of overall package.

edit I would probably only choose the F90 over an A7.
the audis with their engine hanging over the front axle has never handled better in any way shape or form ever over a BMW M5. The skidpad numbers alone tell the whole story. Audis are fat sloppy pigs. I know I had one (C7 RS7) and it was the worst car purchase in my entire life.

I'd argue against Audis when compared to BMWs every day of the week and twice on sunday. They just aren't good cars for the money.

a M3 can outrun a RS6 what does that tell you? lol

Rs6 is the wagon. Not interested in a wagon. Is nice but not nearly as sexy as the rs7 is.
