TIS and ISTA
Am I correct in reading this:
https://bmwtechinfo.bmwgroup.com/ass...quirements.pdf And thinking that if I bought the ICOM Next connector from ECS tuning I could do a 24 hr pass to TIS I can download and install ISTA? I'm trying to plan how I would do a few items that require a scan tool to activate things. I used AutoEnginuity on my wife's E90 but it looks like the F90 isn't supported by it yet. And even back then to code her new fuel injectors I had to mess around with the sketchy software since AE wouldn't do it. |

I got the impression the free option wasn't necessarily legit. If I can I would rather get an official version and not have to worry about spyware or a bad image or whatever. Plus it looks like with the official one you would be able to update software and pretty much do anything the stealership would.

The free or 30$ paid are 100% legit working but not 100% legal if you ask as it's copyrighted BMW's software.
To have it legal you need to pay huge license fees to BMW and be registered as workshop by them. |

What do I get to connect ISTA to the car? Looks like the BMW ICOM Next is backordered everywhere (81312360883).
I assume the F90 and G05 cars use the ICOM A Connector? Or do I also need the B/C adapters? |

I see that the enet cable works with Rheingold ISTA. But I don't see where you legitimately get that software. The BMW TIS site for the official ISTA only lists ICM and J2534 pass tool as recommended connections. So can I use an enet cable with official ISTA on both the F90 and G05?

What do you guys use a power supply while coding/diagnostics/etc. The BMW ones are expensive.
