$5k incentive on non-Competition... now, I can't decide
I already have an invoice deal on ordering a Competition. Now I found out that BMW is offering a $5k rebate/incentive on the normal / non-comp M5.
For $5k, you can take a non-comp beyond where the comp is.... But, is it worth dealing with the hassle of the mods? The only thing I would change on the Comp version is exhaust and wheels. So that would ultimately be the same whether comp or not. 1st world problems I guess.... |

I don't regret getting the base M5 one bit. I had every intention of swapping the exhaust and wheels anyways . Swapped out the grills to black, added the m performance spoiler and a few other things and car is perfect. This is my daily and enjoy the stock ride of the base for everyday driving. A personal view but I really don't like the black diffuser

Besides the HP increase you get little stiffer/lower suspension, Engine mounts, bushings, all the chrome is gone, different wheels.
Nothing significant To me sport exhaust is not loud enough at all, I rather use the total 15K and add KW, Eisenmann/Akrapovic, remove chrome. You can also get great deals on used parts that are like new and 1/2 the price. Hope didn't make it more difficult to decide. BTW you picked a great car, it's a beast!!!

Agree with Miko .... get the M5C if suspension feel is something you value.

They are both great. The money difference seems immaterial at 100k+, but everyone is different. Get whatever you really want as you will be with the car longer than the extra money will be an issue, I would think. As far as modding it for less, that’s a hollow argument for me personally.

I decided on a base and have zero regrets. I new I was changing the springs, exhaust, and blacking out all of the chrome so it defeated the purpose for me. They’re both amazing models and you won’t be disappointed either way.

Go drive both then decide. Both great. I got my '19 for 30K less cuz it had 2500 miles. Needless to say, I did not mind. Those deals are hard to find but I understand wanting something off the price. It is hard to find with this car. Good luck.

When you are spending this kind of money on this type of car, how far do you get saving that 5 grand? From where I am, the price difference between a non comp and comp is estimated usd 30,000. I still am going for the comp anyway despite that i do not track my cars and i do still have every intention to mod the cosmetics and power output of the car. Matter of individual preference and as you mentioned, first world problems. One thing that i always do however, i do push every single of my cars hard but not to the point of being abusive and i make it a point to maintain it well. Get the best you can comfortably afford. At this price point, $5000 is negligible in my opinion.
