What is a Road Worthiness Test

My service light came on and the symbol stood for this according to manual. My car has 43k miles.

If the symbol looks like a double S at the front of the car, it is for a periodic state/local safety inspection. If the S is at the rear, it is for a periodic state/local emissions inspection.

Either way, if you haven't heard from your state MVA (or whoever does the inspections), then simply reset the date. The manual explains how.
