Extended warranty for low mileage 2018 M5

I have a 2018 M5 with just over 10k miles and my factory warranty is going to expire this upcoming August. Since 2009 I have been using a work vehicle that I take home from work, hence the low mileage on the M5. The M5 is only used on my days off from work.

Looking at the warranty and service page for my BMW garage on BMW's web page I received the following prices for the platnum with zero deductable:

5 years / 100,000 miles
$5,600.00
-
5 years / 75,000 miles
$5,150.00
-
6 years / 100,000 miles
$6,550.00
-
6 years / 75,000 miles
$5,950.00
-
7 years / 100,000 miles
$7,850.00
-
7 years / 75,000 miles
$6,700.00

Since the above coverage starts at the time the vehicle was placed into service, I would only receive 1,2, or 3 years of warranty coverage. I will have the use of my work vehicle for the next 4-6 years until I retire. So the M5 will continue to see limited mileage and I project I will be around 20 -25k miles 4 years from now on the M5 if I keep my current driving pattern.

Three years of coverage for $7,850 (7 years/100,000 miles) I am inclined to pass. Now if it added 7 years from the date of purchase of the service contract that would be a different story.

Any suggestions for different warranty companies would be greatly apprieciated.

I just purchased a 2019 m5 comp 2 days ago and the porsche dealer i bought the car from offered easycare extended warranty, extending 4 yesrs from the date of purchase and upto 75k miles, which my car has 23k as of right now, for only 3k. Excluding suspension and wear and tear items, and majority of everything else.

So if it excluded the majority of everything else what made you decide to buy it? What does it cover?

I was on the phone while typing this and messed up big time LOL i meant to say excluding wear and tear items, it covers majority of things. Even if it was only for powertrain, i think it’s worth it for less than 3k. So im happy with it

Ahh ok LOL. That makes sense. If it covers the powertrain it's worth it.

Self insure at those prices for partial coverage for a relatively short time period.

Could you advise on the name of the company for the extended warranty?

The BMW extended warranty is desirable for obvious reasons. In your case the 7 year 75K makes the most sense given your driving habits and plan for use.

You can also look at Endurance warranties. They're a fairly good 3rd party warranty company with few exclusions. Read up on it before committing.
