What was the last US BMW without iDrive?

Rando question, but: anyone know what's the model and year of BMW that was last offered without iDrive (a no-screen dash)?

The F2x 1- and 2-series was available without iDrive in some markets until (I think) 2015.

Edit: Missed the "US" part. The 2-series was probably never available without iDrive in the US.

So we're thinking 2013 1-series is likely the last?

That's correct.

As of the F generation of vehicles, everything came standard with iDrive in the US. And since the 1 Series coupe/convertible were the last models to switch generations due to their original date of introduction and the standard seven year model cycle, those would have been the last ones in production from the E generation of vehicles, and thus the last ones available without iDrive.

I agree with the above: our 135i didn't have iDrive.

2013 E92/E93 M3s and 3 Series can be found without iDrive. Waiting for those M3 prices to drop just a little bit more...

Doing a little more searching, it looks as though it was actually a very close race between the E82 and the E93. Both ended with MY2013. However, somewhat surprisingly, it appears that the E93 was actually produced a little longer:

E82:

E93 (M3, we can assume the E93 3 Series ended at about the same time):

As an aside, for the current generation vehicles, you can see from our future vehicle thread:

https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=901686

That the F22/F23 2 Series and F87 M2 will be in production for about a year longer than the F32/F33 4 Series and F82/F83 M4.

Yup, I have one of those cars. I miss the old days. I just bought a Grand Cherokee with all sorts of bells and whistles. It's great. But I never wish I had any of that stuff when driving the BMW. I love my "poverty spec" M3, lol.

In the US, I believe the 2015 E84 X1 was the last model that was available with no iDrive.

Oh wow, that is interesting. And here I was thinking that 2013 E-chassis cars were double lasts: last naturally-aspirated AND last screen-less dash (aside from the little things in the instrument cluster), for a greater focus on the road and driving.

Yeah, the e84 is a super odd duck model in BMWs lineup. Based on the e9x platform, it debuted in 09, but in the US we only got the LCI version (2013-2015). The N20 versions came with the ZF 8-speed and either EPS for RWD or hydraulic steering for X-Drive (something about fitment issues). The N55 version came with the old 6-speed and hydraulic steering - would have been perfect if it came with the ZF 8-speed. Versions optioned with iDrive came with the ancient CIC iDrive, all the way up through the end in 2015.
