Wondering...........steptronic

I was messing around and driving the car in the steptronic mode the other day.

I dont know if it was just mental HP or not but the car seemed much more set when i lifted off while the car shifted (up) can any one confirm this is a better way?

I am trying to adjust to driving an Auto box.

if it works for you, great. if you are referring to m mode, i love using it when i go hill climbing, but its good anywhere you want.

i trust you are enjoying the auto.

all the best.

I'm not sure what you mean by "much more set" but I was trying to achieve smoother shifts using the steptronic mode by lifting off the gas when i hit the knob to the next gear, but I still get a pretty rough jerk...

Not trying to steal your thread, but what rpm do you shift at when in step to get the optimal launch? I tried this once and accidentally hit the redline since there was a slight delay from the time you hit the lever to go up a gear to when it actually happens. As much as I love auto, I miss that third pedal....

i'm not sure where i read it, but they said if you are trying to race or clock yourself, leave it in auto mode. The car shifts much more accurately than a human.

Yea, it probably is quicker to just place it in auto, but I just wanted to be able to control the shifts....

I get good launch results from stabbing the pedal instantly after taking my foot off the brake. Its a head jerker. DS is best for that as well.

ive read in several posts that for best launch with the steptronic you need to hold the break and get the car around 1500 rpm. thats where people say you get the best launch if you prefer to shift yourself.

I'm guessing he meant "more settled" as in smoother shifts (judging by his comment that he lift off the gas pedal while accelerating)

"Set" as in planted.

The car feels more planted. For best gas pedal results you should not stab the pedal you should apply it in a smooth manner....
