I bought a few Z06 w/Z07 packages a few years ago. coupe and convertible. IMO, the most dangerous car on the road. Thing is small and dangerous. Needs twice the tire it has on it. Had a 19 CTS-V with same motor and is a much better car.

embarassing for the z06. those mods, it has to have a least 150hp advantage, also has probably 800lb advantage as well. drag racing street cars in the future really will just be awd cars with autos IMO. 2wd cars cant hang

probably. But the z06 is not tailored for a dragstrip.

Even with the crappy A8 the z06 has posted some mid/low 10's numbers stock, I assume that's a manual vs auto race?

The F90 is no joke, my car is pushing 750 to the wheels and even then I don't know if I'd want to line up with a stock one even on a perfect day

I'm not sure how to approach this comment. The Corvette is an IRS car - which normally suck compared to solid rear axle when it comes to drags. But it is far from the most dangerous car on the road. They are pretty amazingly stable for a RWD platform actually.

This is a silly comment as the quickest AWD car in the world is touching 6.5's in the 1/4. RWD cars are and will always be much quicker than AWD cars at the limit. For stock or minor mods cars - yes - AWD will be an advantage (on the street). But add a tire to C7Z and a healthy burn out and the advantage goes back to the RWD car.

I believe the quickest legit stock C7Z is in the 10.4's range with unicorn DA and star dust track prep with a tire. So that isn't too shabby. The F90 is a super stout platform - and for even a stock car - it is putting in some solid numbers. I have trapped 129.5 MPH. With a reasonable 60' - that is a solid mid 10 second car all day.

Agree with you from an ET perspective, but the C7s trap speed is underwhelming to say the least. A car that should be producing 650/650 stock + mods and weighs 800 lbs less than the M5 should be able to produce 130+mph trap speeds. Some stock C6Zs trap 124 mph, not too far off the C7Z. I've always found the acceleration numbers of the C7Z to be disappointing.

M5 is one fast car, no doubt. But, that vette sounds really nice.

I agree with you. There are C7Z's hitting 130, but the average is 126-129. Aero was a major issue on the C7Z - removing down to a stage 1 aero setup can add about 2 MPH. The heat soak issues were another massive issue - and they have not been fixed (the angling of bricks 7&8 and a taller lid is not enough - although I'm sure it helps). I know this because the ZL1 adds 11 coolers (and apparently that has made that car fairly solid for heat soak now - as you can't really ever escape heat soak with a super charger - especially a roots blower). I get what GM wanted to do - keep the C7Z NA, and after that couldn't happen - they added the smallest blower they could. Smaller - plus high revving made owners swap out that stock unit very quickly.

This would be true if McLaren didn't exist.

It’s a lack of traction.

that vette is A8.

The A8 under full load it is actually very fast, the gripe we owners have with it is that the the gear doesn't engage the moment you flick the paddle.

The New A10 is what it needed from day one!

There were reasons why GM didn't use it - but I agree the C7Z needs a different trans - badly. The A8 has been pretty wonky. Poor response to paddle inputs and a four-five shift "lurch/delay" that has bothered stock and definitely modified C7Z owners. It also breaks at higher whp.

RPM makes a great aftermarket enhanced M7 - but the A8 doesn't have much (modifying) support.

Won't fit, sadly.

The ford/GM 10 speed is excellent and I know of at least one owner who is pushing 1000+ HP though a stock unit with no issues.

Interested to see how Ford's new DCT compares

"with unicorn DA and star dust track prep with a tire" Only a true racer understands the significance of that statement. Plus the brick heat soak issues.....

Somebody should tell that to McLaren; apparently the laws of physics don't apply to them.
