Good on ya!

These are different cars with these piggys. I don't think people are really ready for the level of difference--it's night and day.

Ordered RaceChip and will wait until after 1,200 mile service to install.

I've never used a tune before on any car. Does the use of racechip mean that the cars settings such as engine (sport, sport+) or transmission settings do not matter anymore? Or, with the tune set to sport, for example, does sport car sport+ still make a difference?

Thx

They matter.

They are all just a bit better now.

The RaceChip and other piggys all provide more power in the same way--they manipulate your car's ECU (its computer) causing a demand for more boost from the turbos hence more power. There's a limit here, though, and it's really only possible because the manufacturers use very cautious limits in their own engine management models. It's the gap between "cautious manufacturers" and what's theoretically possible that the tuner's exploit.

Everything else about the car thinks and behaves as normal so, yes, the modes still do the same thing.

You might notice that shifting-feel changes a bit or that sometimes the power delivery is less linear than it was... but the punch in the back is well worth it.

One difference between my F90 and my F82 is there has been zero change in how it shifts. Identical to stock.

It's fantastic.

I don't like the DCT very much. The "very much" left post tune. The clunkiness got way worse.

I haven't had a chance to test it out, but the RaceChip install couldn't have been easier. Five minutes tops! Gotta love that!

I wish I could say the same. It's not horrible, and to be honest I'm not sure if it's just the ZF's behavior since I didn't drive it long enough without the tune, but it's not consistent.

Definitely pulls harder! Butt-dyno loves it! I haven't found a good stretch of road to do some back-to-back Draggy runs with it on and off yet though. Very happy with the purchase. Well worth the money.

What is not consistent? The feel of the car shifting now that you did the tune? Please explain.

The shift between gears becomes more clunky. In some cases, it feels more like it convulsed between gears. In others, there's a slight delay before the power is re-engaged causing a mild jolt.

For performance-oriented shifting, it feels the same.

All of that said, I've hardly driven the car without it so some of my feedback comes from comparisons drawn with my RS7 P.

I could, of course, set it to map 0 and have it adapt its way back but I'm not that patient or that bothered.

I spoke with my Audi tuner a few years back on the topic and he tells me it's the result of having the transmission effectively lied to wrt/ the torque it should be expecting upon gear entry. I don't know enough to comment but he's never steered me wrong yet.

Doesn't RaceChip effectively raise the max boost, and that's about it? How would that impact shifting speed or smoothness? I guess maybe increased power/tq might make a shift feel more noticeable but I think the increase is small enough relative to the max power the transmission is built for, so that seems unlikely. I'm not sure. I haven't noticed any difference myself (yet). Although to be honest, I run in Sport+ all the time, and pre-RC often times the shifts are a bit abrupt, but very fast, but nothing that bothers me.

Because by raising the boost you substantially increase the torque that the transmission is dealing with. Jason (my Audi tuner) tells me that the ECU and TCU work together to figure out how to best accommodate the power that the engine is developing. ECU tunes work hand-in-hand with the TCU whereas piggybacks like mine and yours are effectively causing the ECU to lie to it hence the behavioral anomalies.

Which model? On the RG Sport website there's three models - GTS, RS and XLR.

Just remove Fortnite. Fixes all behavioral anomalies.
