Surprised no one is talking about.........

The new Car and Driver issue......

(the one where they track-test several cars including our Z4M Coupe!)

I very rarely read C&D, figured out a long time ago that the journalists are highly opinionated about certain brands of vehicles.

Anyways, what was the scoop?

They took 13 cars to Virginia International Raceway, broke them into groups based on price, and lapped them.

Over a 4+mile course, the 335i coupe was about 1.2 seconds quicker than the Z4 M Coupe. Comments were brief but some quotes were, "The Z4M wasn't as good as expected", and "the 335i was perfectly balanced....."

Fodder for the dudes that think the 335i is the Holy Grail, but a pretty good read nonetheless.

They didn't like the 911 Turbo at the track, either. And the Z06 is a freaking beast, but I think everyone already knew that.

I don't see how the 335 ran a better time. I had a 335 until the fuel pump went out and I lemon lawed it. It was my no means a better handeling car then my z4m. With an LSD though it would be a completley differnt story.

I wonder if the "drivers" at car&driver remembered to turn off DSC and hit the sport button...

oh, and most of these journalists drive Subaru's or stuff of that ilk as their daily driver cause they can't afford anything that they actually test drive...

Couldn't agree more.

I drive by a 335i coupe everyday when I leave the garage at work. I've never once thought, "I should have bought that."

Am I the only one who can't easily distinguish between a 335i and a regular 3 series?

I'm driving a 335i right now as a loaner while my Zed's getting some work done on her. I love the car; I wouldn't trade my Z4 for it, but its a great car!

I'm with ya, bother... I have to squint to see the numbers on the back. But that rarely happens because they're always behind me WAAAAY back in the distance.

Yeah, that's true.

The ones I can tell are the 335i's are the new hardtop convertibles. That's only 'cause their roofs look weird with the extra break and the hinge. Would rather have my ragtop any day. I can't believe BMW caved in.

Yeah... me too.
Look at all that extra weight... & kiss your trunk good bye with top down.
It would suck on a road trip.

The best way to tell if it's a 335 from the front is if it has silver mesh. The 328's have black mesh.
