Ummm, this is not correct.
If the suspension was designed for it, they are just fine. They become part of the spring rate. That being said, if there are any questions, put yourself in a time machine and go back to 2009 and ask a 911 Turbo driver that had just had his butt handed to him by a GT-R, either on the dragstrip OR on a road course if run flats were too stiff. They probably were, as the little flecks of them were smacking into his front windshield. Shawn |

RF are much heavier, which can negatively affect handling. There is probably a reason BMW does not put them on the M5. BMW has put RF on other cars.

Suspensions and high performance are one of the physical "magic" of the world left. Two f1 drivers with million dollar suspension budgets have different settings at the same track. BMW has to choose the "best" suspension for the masses. For my crazy nuts on track antics, to grandma who uses it as a grocery getter over pothole ridden streets. It varies car to car. Shawn |

I purchased a set of RFT 285s all around from Walmart at $160 each shipped, Bridgestones with original price of $590 each. Not only the tires were 4 years old but they ride terrible, feels almost like a carriage suspension. Never again. Ordered Michelins instead.

I ended up with Pilot Sport 4S BMW Star and OMFG I can actually feel a night and day difference in the quality of the tires over the P Zeros that came with car from the factory.
All in just a tick under $2300 at Discount Tire, including tire certificates. Well worth the cost, IMO, for anyone needing new tires. |

You can now see why we refer to PS4S factory equipped cars as winning the tire lottery.

This is more like a homecoming for me. I'm just shocked at how big of a difference there is in the feel between the Pirellis and the Michelins. It's shocking, quite honestly. Last edited by omgmike; 09-11-2023 at 08:13 AM.. |

Welcome back. My pre-LCI had Pirellis and my LCI came with Michelins. I too could feel an extreme night and day difference. I’ll never use anything else after having the PS4Ss.
