Thumbs up

EDIT: added a few pics at work finally stopped raining

DINAN F90 H.A.S. Coilover Suspension Review Simply Awesome Suspension

First a bit of history on my past and current BMW's to get an idea of where I'm coming from. I'm no stranger to very stiff riding BMW's and actually prefer it as I don't like roll, dive, and squat. I've had many 330's, 335's, ( E46's, E90's, and F30's ) etc and the last 2 cars were the F80, 1st was manual non comp and 2nd was a DCT competition. Loved those cars so was a bit afraid the M5 would be too soft. The M5 comp blew my expectations out of the water and I'm hopelessly in love with it but really missed the immediacy of the M3 chassis. I just wanted a bit less roll, dive and squat and wanted it lower in the front. That's it. The other car in the stable is an X3M comp and that is stiff as hell and I love it.

About the H.A.S. kits out there that I also was looking at. I'm really glad they did not work out because this DINAN set up is much, much better than I ever expected. Truly impressed and happy. I ruled out MSS right away because I was not looking for more comfort. I was going to get the KW set but they were sold out and I also kept reading feels just like stock but lower and adjustable. I want the car to handle much better and be sharper not the same feel. I wanted lower AND significantly better handling. I was about to order the M performance kit but it was pricey and I had to wait for it. I've had DINAN before and they always had this ability to make a great suspension that felt very oem plus. Well I got lucky as Jason at getbmwparts.com gave me a great price on the DINAN set I couldn't resist. He knew I work as an M specialist at a BMW dealer but my dealer stopped carrying DINAN so I lost out on big discounts. Jason got me what I would have at my dealer so I went for it right away. The kit arrived very quickly and had it installed the next day.

I've never been this impressed with a suspension that keeps oem dampers before in my whole time of modding BMW's. The handling is dramatically better, razor sharp reflexes, real steering feel, and the rebound is finally where I want it. The linear springs vs progressive makes a dramatic difference, it hits the bump, compresses perfectly, then rebound stops it and levels it right away. It soaks it up and then right back to full composure instantly. The most impressive part is how low you can go and on top of that it's actually more comfortable than stock. No idea how they pulled that off but I love it! Huge range of lowering ability ( up to near 2 inches ) and much better handling, not just feels like stock but lower. This is exactly what I was hoping for so I'm extremely happy with the out come and was worth every penny. I cant take pics yet because I'm at work and it's pouring out but I'll have them tomorrow. The drop is perfectly low and very aggressive looking. Now my M5 comp is an athlete and of course a total powerhouse. If you're in the market, get it!! You will not be disappointed.

Pictures coming, you'll be impressed... thanks for reading.

Lol I know. I should know better as I hate it too. In garage awful weather out but here are some teaser pics. Outside pics tomorrow. Just drove home from work and I really am blown away by how good the car feels.

Oh, 12 mm dinan spacers front, 10mm rear. Future classic stud kit. I highly recommend stud kit.

Front close up. Still needs alignment plus maybe tiny bit higher. Maybe.

Very nice write up.

What type of shop did the install? I know my local BMW dealer will not install any parts that don't come from BMW.

My bmw dealer did it. Employee rate for labor. The tech that did it is the only one who works on my M's. He also did my customer KW has kit on an m8 gran coupe.

12mm dinan spacers in front and 10mm dinan spacers in rear. Oem tire sizes. DINANs spacers are great quality and good looking. Running a future classic stud kit so spacers are infinitely easier and never any vibration.

Great write up! Nice to see that Dinan H.A.S. kits are comparable to the rest of the vendors out there. I always found that they were the safer, far less aggressive option when it came to modding, for the obvious reasons of the warranty retention.

That is a NICE drop

I wanted one that I could have nice and low but not be at the bottom of the adjustment range. This actually has quite a bit more room to lower. One of my customers has an 18 he tracks regularly and his is slammed. He has the rest of the dinan links and mono balls so I'm sure it's super tight. I might get them too but they are pricey. Their suspensions for me have always been on the aggressive side, tunes no. Since dinan piggy days started their tunes have needed work.

Drop looks good!

Where are you located? Is the car going to be winter driven?

I've had Dinan suspension on my M4, but being that the car was winter driven, the suspension rusted quite badly after just 2 winters. Dinan was also a pain in the ass to deal with to replace components. That's the reason I didn't get Dinan for my M5.

I'm in MA, outside of Boston. I've seen pics before and I guess I'm concerned about it but the performance and drop is just very impressive. It will be driven seldomly through winter but never with precipitation. X3M comp has a set of snows and we also have a 20 GMC Sierra for crap weather duty. I'm going to clean the coil overs regularly, I like working on my car so it's not an issue and hope that prevents it.

We stopped dinan at my dealer because there was a period of poor customer service but it was during the transition of ownership so I guess I'm not surprised it happened. Seems it's all back in order and the service I've gotten recently was top notch.

Another thing is one of my M5 customers has had it fir a couple years and was daily driven all year. I saw it on the lift prior to ordering mine and it looked ok. Not perfect but not all rusted. Hoping regular cleanings help. You're going to laugh but I put cquartz uk ceramic on the blue springs lol.

What dealership? I’m local Boston too, definitely interested. Have an ambient lighting issue for warranty and a recall to do, maybe make it a one stop.

I bought that from IND. getting painted so just installed carbon fiber ones I have while I wait. I like the way it looks. Carbon ones I have are cool but the actual product isn't great. Only piece from auto technic I've ever gotten that wasn't good.

Great write up!

Suspension feel is definitely a downside on the F90 so nice to hear some feel and response is back. I know you mentioned them, but you should really consider their complimentary suspension parts. I have the monoballs and rear arms paired with the kw v4s and it's great. There is actual feel now, well, as much as can be expected on a f90 anyways. No additional noise and the harshness is negligible to me. The car stays planted with no squirming now if that makes sense, especially under load through a corner.

Yeah I'm definitely happy with it. It's just so much more planted so I think getting those extra parts will really finish it off. I'm really surprised by the extra steering feel. Didn't know it was possible. Whole different car.
