Misfire testing
So apparently you don't count misfires with a knock sensor anymore, you make each cylinder misfire, then proceed to run at 2500 rpm for 5 mins while 4 cylinders are completely off then switch to the other side and do a bunch more on purpose misfires to try to see what the cause is. It'll tell you if it's a plug a coil or an injector though which is kinda neat but idk how great this is for longevity if you have to run more than a couple of these tests.
P.s. don't do this at your house, my neighbors hate me now and they're still stuck with 10 minutes of jackhammer noises Best massage I've had in a while though with how the cars shaking. |

Are you having issues or just playing around with the diagnostics?

Have a slight hiccup that dealer said they couldn't replicate. Had it before they said misfire on 6 and replaced plug and coil. But also my coolant expansion tank started to weep a little at the threads so wanted to make sure nothing was wrong after they replaced it.

Interesting.
I don't think I could stomach watching my car knock for 10 mins. You got balls of steel !. I would be more inclined to just swap all plugs, coils, and injectors if I had to. Or even a bank at a time. |

I mean if bmw thinks it's good then who am I to say it's not. And it's not really knocking since that one cylinder or bank is completely off so no ignition or fuel. So I guess it's not really that bad as an actual misfire or detonation. Heck it might even be completely safe (think cylinder deactivation on gm and fca cars)
