Just spoke with the CEO of BMW NA. He will have the person in charge of the launch get in touch with me today with the launch date. I will post details when I know.

A lot of other HEA cars were complete in early January (including mine) so maybe we hope for March.

We can only hope...

My built date was 2/13. I am currently at dock awaiting ship. Should hit port by mid-March no problem..and be at the dealer by end of March for delivery (hopefully).

So the launch date is March 19th per BMW NA. They might let a few cars out of the port early depending on space needed but they said most likely not before.

I know this is a typical experience around the launch date of a new vehicle, but this would drive me crazy - !!

I was told March 24th...and it could potentially be longer. The whole roll out of this car by BMW has been pretty bad IMO.

This is now a month later than I anticipated and it now puts me in a bad position. I'm very disappointed in BMW

Quickburn7 - What's your POC's name at BMW NA that said this? How certain is this date? I also am in a tricky situation because I got rid of my current car expecting it to be here by now...

This situation does suck and just went through this with my E63s.
My contact is Mr. Kuhnt and apparently if you need a car during the waiting period your BMW dealer should provide you a loaner at BMW NA cost.

Hope this helps.

Wow, do they really give out loaners like that? Thanks for the tip. Will need to ask!

No luck on the loaner car. Just spoke to my dealership and unfortunately, they won't be able to do that. I'd like to hear about anyone else who was able to get a loaner during this waiting period.

I just got an email through my dealer from BMW NA and they are saying Retail Release is March 31. I hope that isn't true.

Is the email a forward from your dealer of BMW NAs formal statement or just your dealer claiming BMW NA said that?

Unless it's directly from BMW NA and clearly documenting those dates, it's all just speculation.

I just spoke again to my contact at BMW NA. He revised the information he told me. Cars will be scheduled to leave the ports as mentioned earlier on March 19th. However dealers will be not allowed to deliver any cars to customers until March 31st to coincide with the international retail Launch date of the F90 M5. So looks like we have over a month to wait for the car.
For those who need loaner cars contact Bmw NA and they will contact the GM of your dealership who you ordered the car from and they will provide loaners.

How certain are you on the loaners? Can you provide who at BMW NA said this is possible? I spoke to my dealer and they clearly said it won't be possible.

You have to call customer assistance at BMW NA and they will reach out to your dealer since BMW NA will pay for the loaner.

My contacts are:

Richard Hart
Department Head Customer Relations and Services

and

Bernhard Kuhnt
CEO of BMW North America

I had met them both at a private event last year and kept their cards and just called.

I don't have confidence the Customer Assistance agents will have any idea what I'm talking about, but will give it a try calling them. Did Richard or Bernhard have any specific recommendations on what to say?

Not really but thats what they offered and then my dealer called to offer it for me as well. Luckily I do not need a rental as I have other cars so I did not pursue it.
