Oh ok, interesting. So you cut (using a dremel) the hump out of the actual lip itself, not the bumper? I was wondering if that was a possibility. Haven't cut carbon fiber before so I didn't know if that was feasible.

You say it's not the cleanest cut, but it looks pretty damn good most of the way around!

Yes , sorry should have been clearer, I cut the hump out. FYI, I wore a mask while doing it as the fumes were pretty bad and it created a good amount of dust.

I’ve added a picture of it on the car.

Awesome man that looks great! Really happy you shared the pic! A few more questions and I promise I’m done… Did you have to cut out any other part of the lip or make any other modifications? Did you use the brackets on the left and right to reinforce the lip? Add any 3m tape or just use the supplied bolts/screws?

I didn’t make any other modifications. I had the tape ready to go but didn’t use it in the end. I read somewhere that it could create a gap. All the screws lined up so I just used the supplied ones. I did this a couple months back but I don’t recall any brackets - if they were included I definitely didn’t use them. From memory there were about a dozen screws and that thing is on solid, it’s not going anywhere.

OEM's spend a lot of time and money making sure "the product" delivers the best experience they can "guarantee" for a long time. When people start modifying power, its the most likely path that something goes wrong more frequently than not.

shawnhayes believe it or not, I've blown an E92 M3 motor on the track.

https://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=866284

Car was 100% stock. Not one modification. BMW covered it, with virtually no questions asked.

I've been on the track with my heavily modified 2006 Infiniti G35 back in the day...that thing was a pile of problems. Never popped a motor but was always overheating and just stupid problems. Once had the steering shaft seized and popped out of the u-joint it goes into, stranding me and my brand new girlfriend at the track until I could get help the next day 300 miles from home. Not fun.

So yeah, I'm over modifying cars to the point where it will affect them on the racetrack. Don't care if they add some more power or not, it literally doesn't make a difference to me when on the track.

I absolutely believe you, but it's just rarer to see the stock ones go kappoey. BMW's from that time had some bearing problems. Wasn't there an F10 M5 problem where they were going kapooey as well?

The HUGE problem here is that if it goes boom with a bunch of mods on it, you're probably out $35,000 more more (these days) to fix. Stock? First couple of years? They're on the hook. Unless you're doing something totally stupid, it's under warranty.

But it's the same for me....once I had my GT-R fully track capable and cooled properly, stuff started breaking almost routinely. My M5's? Suitable out of the box.

My boo boo. It was S85 v10's that were bad. Several went bad on track.

Yeah I think I remember seeing what they would charge for the M3 if it wasn't under warranty, it was around $25K.

Anyone care to weigh in with opinions on the KWv4 coilover kit? Besides cost and the general idea that there’s nothing wrong with the stock setup — any major cons? I’m not sure if they are on Bimmerpost but saw someone who just added these to their CS on a Facebook group and they seem to be a fan. I read through the limited number of posts with folks running them on the F90 forums and it seems only praise from the folks who added it to their cars but it’s a fairly limited number of people.

Im interested in lowering the car and I see springs are the cheapest way to go about ot but that seems to have more questionable implications on the cars performance. From what I read the KWv4s are more of the opposite.. it seems there is potentially a performance gain from what I see. What say you guys?

If your response is what am I trying to achieve? — it’d be lowering the car without sacrificing performance or encountering problems while driving. If I can improve handling in some way at the same time — not that I have complaints presently that is a plus. I’m open to being convinced it’s not worth the money but interested in opinions on if it hurts/helps/or is neutral. Thanks !

But, I'd like to see videos. Youtube channel, trophy pics? Not to confirm, but to enjoy.

Sorry for the delay. My shop is crazy busy.
Tried to attach pics. System asked for URL? I'm not much of a forum guy.

No biggie. Good that the shop is busy.

Best way is to use the phone app. It will upload the pics for you. But you have to trust it. Would love to see them.

Hey guys - I’m a longtime BMW fan and have owned several f10’s and EAG e39s…the CS is a whole other level! I have a deposit down on a CS but wanted to check in with the community since there are so few cars. Does anyone have any history or intel on WBS73CH03NCJ53921?

In person, the paint and interior are flawless and appear to have been well cared for. The only blemish is the front lip glue seems to be coming undone on the driver and passenger ends…no signs of damage so maybe the previous owner had a different lip and converted back to stock…? The carfax doesn’t show a break in service so going to check that with BMW on Monday to make sure it was completed.

Any help or thoughts would be much appreciated but regardless, looking forward to being an active member on this thread!

I believe the owner of that car just traded it for a Porsche (no surprise). He sold a bunch of his parts on FB groups a few weeks back. I bought the IND bolsters from him. I don’t know him but I suspect he’s on the forums and seems like a good guy who I would suspect takes good care of his vehicles. He did sell a Racechip at the same time — so while I doubt that put any major stress on the car it is maybe a consideration for you.
