Demo Pricing and Individual Colors

So I like to pass on knowledge to help others whenever I can so just wanted to pass on this little nugget for anyone interested. Here in Germany they have demo pricing where if you order a new car and then let the dealer use it as a demo model in the show room for 4 months and 3000 km then you get 5% off the total price. May be worth asking about if your patient enough and want to save a couple thousand dollars/euros. Also it took me forever to figure out how to find BMW individual colors to order for my M5. I finally stumbled across the BMW UK website which has what’s called the individual visualizer which lets you see a number of pretty cool color options along with pricing and models they can be ordered for. Hope this helps someone.

Are you kidding, I bought a pre-reg car (showroom model) fully loaded including CCB and sports exhaust, list price £102K + on the road in the UK which is about £1800.
I got it for £80K with 200 miles on the clock. saved over £22K UK pounds.

No way would I let a dealership rag my car out for 4 straight months just to save 5%!

Wow really?! That’s good stuff then. The owner of the local dealer here is a buddy of mine (our kids play soccer together) so no issues or worries on treatment of car because during the demo period i will have it in my possession 90% of the time (also did this with my M550i) and the other times it’s just sitting in the showroom. I like the fact that i have no car payment for 6 months and I save $18k on the cost. But I really do see your points and probably wouldn’t do so either if I wasn’t in such a small town. Basically paying $95k out the door fully loaded. Only thing I didn’t order was night detection and ceramic brakes. But good points by all👍🏾

What do you suppose that car with 4 months of wear and tear is now worth out of the door? Depreciation is not kind on the M5's...

Good question to which I have an answer. Again not sure how this is done in other parts of Europe but here I have the car in my possession 90% of the time. I did the same thing with my M550i I bought last year and traded that demo model in for the F90 M5 and basically broke even. Also since I plan on holding on to the M5 and not selling or trading it I’m not worried about depreciation which in essence would be the same regardless of if it’s a demo or not. Bottom line is each person has to do what works for them. I only put this thread up to help some people if they needed it, but if anyone thinks it not a great ideal then no worries just ignore the advice. It has worked out great for me however and I’m all about helping others reach their goal of owning high performance vehicle if I can.
