I was wrong about this car!

I recently came from a Dinan stage II M3 with performance exhaust, manual transmission. I really loved the M3 but wanted to move up to something nicer. I got a 2019 MBB Competition M5. I completed the break in period and oil change a few weeks ago. I was regretting my move to the M5 when I first got it. Too big, exhaust was not loud enough, little too fancy, not a manual, bitch, bitch, bitch. Well, since the break in period I have drove the M5 a lot harder. I am the little bitch now! This damn car is freaking quick and fast as shit. When I drive it hard, I do not notice the size and it turns on a dime. Stops on a dime too. I still wish I could hear the exhaust more but not a big deal. My M3 never scared me with power. This M5 will make me pee my pants a little Any of you dudes experienced the pedal power on this beast?

Yep, it's a monster. I recommend installing the M performance exhaust and a really good radar detector/laser jammer system. These will increase your enjoyment substantially.

I added aftermarket exhaust and disabled the fake exhaust sound on my M550i. Couldn't hear the exhaust so I turned the fakeness on again. Great car for blasting down the highway while getting a massage but have to roll the windows down a bit to hear the exhaust. Crazy how capable this car is so I can only imagine the M5's feel.

I also didn't really appreciate how crazy fast the car is until after the break in period. It's just so sick…

Also, I agree, invest in a quality radar detector. It literally saves me all the time.

Well yes, you can't really experience the power unless you go over the 4500rpm. I never had such problem since I break in my car hard, but for those who follow the manual, don't judge till after the break in period.

I can clearly recollect the first time I got on it after the break-in period. I was behind a slow moving truck, and decided to pass. I floored it, and honestly don't remember a thing until my brain started to register again, and I saw that I was in triple digits. I know what to expect now, and can stay a step ahead, but that first time was scary to say the least.

As others have noted, a radar detector is money well spent. I don't drive recklessly, but having this much power on tap, can sometimes lead to lapses in my best judgment.

This is correct! I had to adjust my driving style, because you take cars over so quickly on the pass, that they a lot of times can't see you and can wander into your lane. Launch control is also bonkers, it reminds me of some roller-coaster launches!

It's insane...My buddy let me drive his M2 comp and it was fun...but seeing his reaction riding the M5. His first line was "I have never felt 600 horses before but now I know and it is amazing". Sometimes I have to pinch myself and feel so blessed to be riding in the BEST daily driver on the market. Also, a 911 turbo recently tried to challenge me off the line and he humbly came in second 😉

I also came from an F80 M3 and what a big difference this is even compared to my previous F10 M5. I always drive it hard lol and it can definitely scare you a little! My favorite settings now are Sport plus engine, Sport suspension and sport steering. 2WD with S2 for shifting (DRY DAYS ONLY!!!) love the car and it's a lot of fun and I can't think of anything else that I want right now as far as cars goes.

I agree with all your settings but I don't use 2WD. 2WD would be good for drifting on a track or burnouts but I like the instant acceleration of 4WD as a daily driver. 4WD is phenomenal in this car and really a game changer over the old M5's, IMO.

I will probably, literally, never use 2WD.

If for some reason I'm at the track and just want to destroy the rear tires I suppose I'll give it a shot.

100% correct, but i'll at least disengage one time to experience.
