F90 back-up camera quality

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Is it me or does F90 back up camera lack in terms of resolution?
I'm comparing this to my F85 which appears to be superior in image quality and speed (including low light conditions). Granted, F85 is not a 360 view hence why i think BMW may needed to detune the resolution? What bothers me the most is low light conditions, can see ton of grain.. the fisheye effect also doesnt help..

I can't compare with an F85, but compared to my Jeep Grand Cherokee, the F90 backup camera has much better resolution and image quality IN THE LIGHT, but in low light it looks much worse than the Jeep. Pros and cons.

F85 blows it out of the water vs F90 (clarity wise).. i was really expecting this given its a newer model.

When I first start the car in cold temps it's blurry.

I guess it takes time to warm up?

Mind you it was -38 yesterday 🥶

Are people using their backup camera for photography?

The rear view hasn't bothered me, but the 360 degree top view is somewhat lousy on the F90/G30. It was better even on the F10 (other than the lack of front camera on the F10).

Not sure about the F90 but the F82 camera is very low quality

ActionDH we are not using it for photography, however in low light and fisheye effect trying to back the car into a tight spot becomes more work than needed.. especially that BMW did get the camera right on the F85.. but like many other models they go back and fuck up something else.. like the epic fail with halogen reverse light bulb on F90..

Or the A/C that worked fine on the previous generation, but now sucks.

hybrid_eg, how did we ever survive without backup cameras, the camera can easily discern a wall or car, use your side mirrors, we've all driven without cameras. We aren't threading needles here

Backup cameras save lives. Its proven, that's why the US mandates in on every car.

The backup camera is my wife's C300 has a much better resolution than BMW's; especially at night. The only complaint I had w/my M4 & still in my 5.

ActionDH good for you that it doesn’t bother you. The rest of us obviously feel this part of the M5 could have been improved especially given the fact that BMW had better cameras on previous models, my rant is mainly due to BMW inconsistency.

And cameras will drive these cars more and more into the future so BMW might as well get with the program
