Vic55 After reading your review I am back on the fence with the E63s and F90 now. I may need to test drive them both again to see.

The rigidity of the W213 E63S is too stiff, no flex and thus parts inside have no travel. Once they get pushed too much they will start to cry out loud LOL.

Performance is close enough not to matter, I think. For me - it was as much about looks as anything. I'm just not a fan of the looks on the e63. The way that swage line crease droops at the rear of the car - I really don't like that. Wheel gap and ride height also look off.
The M5 is one of those cars that looks really great in certain colors/configurations. But not every color/config is going to suit it. That said, it's a pretty clean design and should stand the test of time. |

In terms of ride height/wheel gap, the E63s has a clear advantage over the M5 due to easy adjustability with its air suspension. Plug in a cheap ride height module into the OBD-II port and you can adjust up/down via touchpad/knob in seconds. Drop it by 1”1/2 if you like to raise to stock height for a dealer visit if you like Plus the car can be raised via button for steep drive ways, etc. The ride is much stiffer on the MB. There is simply no cushy comfort mode. M5 is much more compliant here... |

The E63 S is like an E60 M5. It is amazingly fun, but it is not a car you want to daily. It is an awesome car, but itg is far too stiff and rigid. It rolls less than the M5 (although handling wise it is pretty much the same, I believe the M5 is able to carry some extra speed due to its smaller mass).
I believe AMG has lost the ability to make smooth riding cars, like they did in the past. I drove the new 2019 C63 S, and it is rigid as hell, (but I still believe it rides better than the F80). I also drove a CLA45 2019, and I though the suspension is way worse than that of an RS3, far too bloody stiff. To top it off, I also drove the new G63, and although it rides well, it is far stiffer and less compliant than any Range Rover (nevertheless now it handles as well or better). Even the GLE63 is far harsher than the X5M. Don't know what happened with AMG, that they went bonkers in their suspension tuning. All their cars are far too stiff, especially the E63. The E63 is an executive saloon, and owners tend to use it daily, it makes no sense that car has a ride that can break your jaw. |

Anyone else notice that the E63 had cameras on the front and the back but the M5 only had one on the front? I guess they expected the M5 to take the L here? Ooops...

Perhaps the automotive engineers on the forum can explain and help me understand the advantages and disadvantages of the f90 m5 having a 10:1 compression ratio and the e63 AMG having an 8.7:1 compression ratio...
From what I've read online, lower static compression allows for headroom for more boost than higher static compression, so does that mean the e63 AMG engine is more tuner friendly for cranking up the boost? |

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I'm talking about the cameras mounted by Carwow. Seems like they mounted them expecting the M5 to be behind the E63...or so it seems to me...

"Although the M5 is the new kid on the block, the defending champion AMG puts up a hard fight. And it has a lot going for it, like mean looks and a brutal growl, a more excessive way of addressing all things dynamic, and the fact that it is also available as a wagon. The E63 S is about as rough and raw as the subbrand wants to go. In contrast, the M5 looks less butch and is less butch. It comes across as the more refined machine, sweeter at the limit, always tactile and composed, a tad more compliant, pleasantly relaxed at five tenths yet totally switched on when it really matters. It wins, if only by a head."
