Engine coolant low

Anyone had this warning? I live less than 2 miles from the dealership, so got it topped off first thing this morning when I saw the warning. But I'm still a little nervous after seeing what happened to Quickburn7's engine.

Shit, that's what I was afraid of. Will check later, but hopefully I didn't puncture.

Did you have leaking under your vehicle once you realized there was a puncture?

Wondering if I can just check for a leak in my parking spot today as a tell-tale sign, without having to even start up the car if there is any issue.

I thought Quickburn lost oil pressure. Why would he have a low coolant message? Maybe I'm confused as usual.

Yeah just look for fluids right under the engine cooler. Should be easy to spit if there is a leak or a puncture

Wasn’t it oil pressure?

I had the message as well; they topped off but also replaced two coolant hoses under warranty (car has ~9200 miles). I did not have any noticeable leaking, but went from 4 weeks prior having the fluids topped off to almost none.

Good luck!

Coolant is different than oil pressure (Quickburns issue) as others have pointed out. You can not drive the car with loss of oil pressure. Coolant low has nothing to do with pressure but instead the level. And its easily remedied as you did.

I posted a similar question a month or so ago as I also got the message. Most said it was related to the lowering temperature. Not sure if it is any colder in CA recently.

Yea, we just hit "our" 32°F and rain recently.

Had this week for the first time when temp dropped to about 20F. I've ignored as it goes away if it's a bit warmer (over 30F). I guess I'll top off this wkd and see what happens.

Which coolant is used in the F90 as mine needs topping up and the manual doesn’t state the type anywhere.
Does it have to be BMW or is another brand ok?

I had the coolant level low message in my first F90 after appr. 11.000 km. We topped it up, but never got to follow it as the car was totalled shortly after that. No with the new F90 I just had the same warning at 13.000 km. Will ask the dealer now what to do.

I've had it multiple times. I had an unknown leak back in August that looked like oil. Been running through coolant like crazy and just got told a rock punctured one of my auxiliary radiators after they pressure tested it. When you bring it in for a top off and they don't put in a crazy amount to either reservoir you should be fine. Otherwise it is something you should look into asap

My car showed it for about 1 week. The day I took it in for service to top the coolant off the warning message went away. The mechanic told me that I had a full tank of coolant.

I just had the message again at 30.000 km. Can't remember what they did last time.
