Exhaust system that isn't absurdly loud
Hi, I'm a boring adult so I'd like to get a new exahust system but I want it to sound deeper and not necessarily absurdly loud. My day starts around 5.15am and I can't have my neighbors want to kill me.
Any suggestions on a system that''ll give it some punch without it being overly loud? Bonus points for some flap control in there to keep it quieter if necessary. Thanks! |

Dinan is a good option considering price, might also look into MAD if you want a full cat back. Both retain the valves and integrated with the OEM controller. For quiet starts you can always hit the exhaust button to close the valves.

Ha, definitely trying to avoid rowdy. Ideally would like to get a little more power while it sounding deep and not "bang bang". I'll look into secondaries.

Won’t get more power from the under car exhaust unless maybe you are already heavily modded and tuned. Changing those sections can give a more powerful sound, though, if it is just noise you want. Changing secondary downpipes to cat delete might add 15 rwhp — which is not much when starting with 550 rwhp. For power, add a piggyback or flash tune.

If I wanted a little more power, a little turbo whistle and no CEL, I would go with 2ndary downpipes. If I just wanted a louder exhaust, I’d go with a rear section or a front resonator delete or both.

if you are not looking for a huge change in sound, start with the secondary downpipes. If you still want more sound, Dinan and MAD are too of the more daily driver-friendly options.

MAD primary+secondary DPs and MAD catback here. Pretty tame in comfort mode and valves closed. In sport+ with valves open it’s wild. The turbo spool/wooshes are incredibly addicting. Definitely smells like a boat when standing outside of the car, which is fine as I don’t drive it often. May go back and do high flow primaries in efforts to reduce that.

I have a set of CTS Turbo high flow primaries that I would sell. They stop the smell but not a CEL. I ran them for maybe 6 months.

It's crucial to find a highly reputable shop, I've heard horror stories of leaks and bad cuts on simple resonator delete jobs.
