New toy!
I got an older one to play with 2006 w13K for 28K. I wanted an old school sports car with a little kick! Others considered/tested Porshe Spyder, XKR, M3 conv., SLK55. I know there all over the place. I liked the price vs. characteristics of the M the best. I've had it for a couple of months now and the more I drive it the more I love it. It's very rough compaired to my 335ic and demands attention. I only take it out on nice days when I want to play with a stick.

It is funny these very low mile 06's keep showing up. I thought my car's 15K was low. Have fun and enjoy. Looks like a nice color combo with the light sepang interior.

Lots here on tracking the car. If you've never done that before, stock everything is just fine for the first few times out and probably beyond. If you're more experienced, or as you move along, you'll find the stock negative camber ~-1.0 to be inadequate and hard on the tires. -2.5 to -3.0 is better. Easy to get to that with the Turner Camber Washers for very little $$$. Check the forum brake area if you're experienced as well, the stock rotors are darn good, but you'll probably want to upgrade the pads if you're a track rat. Upgraded transmission mounts are a not a bad idea either for track use either.... Enjoy! |

Grats! You're going to love it. Beautiful color combo and great low mileage. Now drive it like you stole it
Might want to flush break, coolant and oil if it hasn't been done recently. With that low mileage often owners neglect maintenance. Oil should be change regardless of use every 2 years (and some people here do it every year).

Finnegan, Thanks for the track info. I have an R1 that I track and can appreciate tuning tips.
I was concerned about the miles also. But they had all the papers and by coincidence we have the same SVC advisor at Russell. They said it didn't need anything according to schedule. I also test drove 3 other M roadsters for comparison. It runs pretty strong, only time will tell. I only plan to put a few miles on it a year also (garage queen). I think it needs better tires. It has limited grip in 1st and 2nd (past 6K) with track off. Were PS2s an option in 2006? |

If it has the original Continentals (stock tires) on it they're crap plain and simple. (PS2s weren't an option.) Lots of folks around here run Hankook V12s, and Nitto NT05s or Star Specs for mixed track/street duty. PS2s are good, but pricey, and IMO not worth the extra $$$. We also tend to run wider than stock, 235/265 or even 245/275. Type of tire, and the wheel, amount of camber, coils, and etc. will affect whether they rub. Lots and lots and lots on that in the tire/wheel section. FWIW I run Star Specs and like them a lot. Last edited by Finnegan; 01-13-2012 at 03:29 PM.. |

I've had Star Specs on mine for the past 6 months and love them. Lots of good grip! I don't track.

PS2s were superseded (unofficially) by PSS. Not only are they cheaper they perform better according to Michelin.
Highly recommend PSS in 245/275 on stock rims. The amount of grip you get is fantastic with the better tires and increased contact. No rubbing or issues at this size either with stock suspension or KW V3 coilovers.

Are the PSS as quiet as the PS2?

I have had both in stock sizes and.....not real sure. Both aren't what I would call quiet.
My 2006 had 13k miles, then I bought it. It is over 50k now and has been a flawless commuter, track car, grocery getter, and Sunday crusier. |

I never had PS2 so I can't compare. They are quieter than NT05 and Star Spec, but probably louder than V12s.
Pros and Cons with each so I'd definitely read up to choose the right combination for you of price, road noise, grip and tread life.
