Daily driving

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
What settings/ mode do you typically use the majority of the time.

Econ/comfort still has some pop but I find it hard not to run in sport +. Am I pushing the car too much in this mode 90% of the time?

What is your preference? Any reason why?

Thanks in advance - still learning this beast…

I drive in a mix of 2wd and awd with traction control off daily. I find the TC to be intrusive. All other settings on max sport 24/7. Personal preference, no right or wrong answer.

I prefer a more sportier driver is why. Comfort mode seems boring for me.

I leave my settings in the default eco comfort settings unless I need or want more. Bad roads, traffic, and daily driving needs don’t require stiff suspension and higher revs and more abrupt shifting. 99% of my driving is fairly utilitarian. I wish I lived in an area that were warm and dry and had only good roads and little traffic.

For the first few months of the new car, I will drive in Sport+ engine only for the louder exhaust sounds.

After the initial fun has worn off, I go back to eco 90% of the time and only hit Sport+ if I need to pass someone quickly on the highway or beat some lame ass trying to beat me to the merge off a light. People should know their place on the road. lol.

Also, the MPE has opened up quite a bit from new and Sport+ is almost obnoxious in most settings now. Every lift off the throttle brings on endless overrun. Maybe I'm just getting old. I like it when showing off, but not when just driving through my neighborhood.

You don't need sport plus to over take lol just push the gas pedal padt the detent that brings maximum acceleration since it's considered the oh shit mode aka car you need to do something quick or we're screwed mode.

NAH, if I’m going to pass them in maximum speed, I’m going to also give them the sound to go with it!

Plus all around, AWD, MDM

2WD without traction control is dangerous.

At WOT the valves open and you get the full sound anyway, only thing you won't get is the overrun when you let off the gas

I'm sport + steering, Sport + engine lvl 2 trans, and either comfort or just sport on suspension.

If stuck in traffic, then usually manual or eco everything.

None of us need WOT to beat many vehicles on the road. Can’t remember the last time I went past half throttle unless I’m trying to hit 160

Once the oil warms up a bit, Sport+ except in bad weather, then only some of the time

I do the same, but to be fair it's winter here so no real possibility to push the envelope.

How hard are you pushing the car on your daily drive? I leave the TC on my CS on all the time (unless on the track) and I have never noticed it interfering at all. I don't baby the car either.

Steering: Sport+

Transmission: 2 lines. This is the key. Default has the trans racing for 8th gear and holding high gears nearly forever. At 2 lines, the trans is far more rational and reacts reasonably.

Usually keep the M mode 1 setting for efficiency/comfort settings while driving. This is the preferred preference 90% of the time while the other 10% is just M mode 2 with DSC off and 4WD sport. Great for when others want to line up randomly and switch between the two modes effortlessly.

I leave the settings to the default eco / comfort but pulled the exhaust connector so the flaps are always open for a bit more aggressive exhaust sound.

Sport + down the board
Manual III
full DP's
straight pipes

it doesnt get old.
under bridges, running along tall concrete dividers, its goosebumps

the sound trips people out,
this is a very angry motor and im here for it, but they have silenced it like true professionals. amazing really

and they know it too because in the M -mode tachometer, the 2 has a large mark, and the 4 has an even larger mark.. These are your anti-lag backfire markers

I can play it like an instrument 1,2, 3-5 gunshots , Upshift , downshift , you name it

Accelerating hard right after a speed bump or any sort of uneven pavement will cut off power very intrusively
MDM no such issues
