Out of principle. Where do these morons get the nerve to molest the car without even speaking with the future owner?

Get it, enjoy it... Just ask them to replace the glass... Life's too short to stress about something like this for so long - there's far greater fucked up shit out here and things that can't be fixed as simply as "replacing glass..."

IP address if Bimmerpost suplies data to BMW in exchange for exclusives, information, access etc etc.

I was thinkinig:
BMW NA have IP address data from a customer effort to reach out to them via web site/ email and they can be correlating with forum IP data (I stretched and speculated Bimmerpost helps them).

Or they just decipher forum screen name and link the complaints/ posts to what they receive.

Regardless, it's amazing insight that they'd do that. They called this person over forum content he posted!

Ah, understood.

More likely the online name or content—the latter building clarity post by post. IP addresses change too frequently and are unreliable for various reasons.

It's the content... City / State is listed, information from prior posts, hell, most of us have talked about, referred or even complained/boasted about their sales / service guys...

If any of us had a bounty on our heads, they would most likely have minimal problems finding us based upon post history...

Yup, agreed. To my mind, it's no different to discovering tunes—it's all about intent; whether they want to or not. If it's the former, we're all (mostly) readily identifiable.

Dealership reached out and apologized and is returning the deposit. BMW NA didn't do much at all. I assume the car was sold to someone else.

I found another Jahre at a nearby dealer but it had a deposit on it already and I was the next in line. Unsurprisingly, it sold to the original deposit holder.

I'm not too bummed about it. BMW NA acted as I expected. I would've been more pissed had I spent all that money and gotten the car in less than pristine condition.

All I can say is wow, what a surprising result. Go buy the M8 now!

Bummer result. If that happened to me, I'd go get the Audi RS6 and then send BMWNA and BMWAG a nice picture of my new ride.

Haha I'm pretty sure BMWNA will not care. It's a commodity, when one person turns a vehicle down, there are plenty in the line waiting.

Not ideal for customer service, but that's the way it is

There's alway the next cool car coming down the pipeline. So I wouldn't worry about it OP, just move on. And never buy from that dealer ever again!

Me, I'm already thinking of getting the RS6 Avant.

Conclusion

I couldn't shake the itch to get my hands on one despite the poor experience with my previous attempt. Worked with another local dealer who had a Verde Ermes individual on the floor. Amazing experience. Picking this baby up on Tuesday. And this time, this dealer promised not to etch 1-800 numbers all over my car . They found the entire Jahre saga unbelievable. Here are some pics.

Congratulations on the nice find! Fully agree with your decision to stop the original transaction and walk away - I'm sure your heart was in your stomach. Enjoy the new beauty!

I think this is a much better choice than your previous attempt. That green just makes it so special and goes perfectly in my eyes to the interior. I'm glad after all this time you have a happy ending!

What a catastrophic story. Happy to see the ending though. I agree with the above ; 36 Jahre > 35 Jahre
