Correct, it's annoying as if the front tires are not within 2mm of the backs you should do all 4, due to it being an xDrive.
My old RS6 wore all 4 tires at the exact same rate.

changed from 19" with pirelli's to 20" with mp4s and the ride compliance improved. I was a bit surprised. I am not a pirelli guy; would buy almost any tire before pirelli's. After all these years pirelli still uses those hard ass sidewalls. Michelin's are better in every way except for the fact that they chunk more than the pirelli's if you slide the car on a regular basis.

I have just changed out the pirelli's after 7k on backs, not a bad tyre at all they seem to operate very well in cold temps but do die off at the track after a few laps, the 4s seem to take a few more moments to get up to temp on cold days but them seem to yield the performance for longer, not been to the track yet with these but it wont be long, i suppose having the Michelens on in winter will give you a bit more opportunity to heat up the Engine as well as your waitiing on tyre temps to increase, so not so bad after all, i do find my self putting more trust on planting the throttle in the corners more than i did with the Pirelli. but 7k from tyre is pretty impressive as in the my last F10 the tyres would be down to 1.5mm after 4k on the Michy. only time will tell with the wear for comparison

I switched all 4 to Michelin AS3+ the week I picked up the car. Running a summer set up when the weather gets here but the AS3+ are tried and true for the weather in the Northeast.

Random on-topic/off-topic question here. I was looking to get a set of Michelins for my car. I noticed that on Discount Tire's and Tirerack's website they have what appear to be the same tire but for different prices (well not the same as one has a Mercedes designation). Is it me, or am I missing something here? Why the additional $$ for the Mercedes ones?

I just switched to the Michelin's, after wearing out the Pirelli's, and can confirm that the Michelin's are grippier than the Pirelli's. The car feels more planted especially in corners at high speeds.

I replaced the PZero's on the back (that were on from new) with PS4s and left the fronts as they still have life in them.
The fronts are still off the wear bars & "should" be OK-ish @ 15k miles - BUT, even after checking the pressures are correct, they are pretty sketchy, even in the dry & producing on/off understeer & more tram-lining - all the issues are at the front, so I can only put this down to worn Pzeros on the front nearing the end of their life need treating carefully, as they feel really nasty on even medium speed corners & don't provide any confidence. |

I got my car with pirellis. 550 miles in- I made the switch to my tried and true.. PS4's
Major difference in ride quality. Noticed immediately the superior quality. Not to mention the perfect bulge on the side walls
