I’m glad to see it has a normal kidney grille.

The render looks a lot better but the actual car with Christmas camo has a much more pronounced notch which is what I expect the production car to have. It's weird, really weird looking.

Is it free? Presents are free, yes? LOL get out of here trying to charge me $180k for a present.

But since I can’t afford it anyway, I’ll say: I’m not buying it because it’s automatic. Lol

It’s an absolute tank! Seriously you guys are excited for this?

Well I like the front end, the G8x should also get these kidneys it would help that car no end.

I’m not an Audi guy but the RS6 looks sleek and aggressive as hell. This just looks a bit… funeral?

The Christmas wrapped car clearly still has the pronounced camo panels to hide the actual lines of the bumper and diffuser.

I’m not sure why we’re acting like the rear bumper is a mystery. The sedan rear bumper was leaked months ago, and the touring will likely be a carbon copy.

Between the leaked photos, patent photos (non m) and renders, we pretty much know what the entire rear end, including new taillights, will look like.

I still don’t understand why this is coming and not the M3. I guess BMW needs to run against the RS6 and E63 wagons. But more people would’ve bought the M3 wagon.

Simple, much higher price point for more 💰💰profit for BMW NA and BMW USA Centers. Dealership AVP will be over $8,500 per unit sold in the USA. Wouldn’t be surprised if the M5 touring approach’s XM price wise.

I'm guessing their analysis showed that the same number of people (enthusiasts who like wagons) would buy an M3 vs. M5 Touring and that the costs of bringing them to the US are roughly equal. So, with that in mind, I'm also guessing that margins on the M5 are higher than the M3 so it makes complete sense to bring the car that they'll make more money on and get the same number of buyers for.

But I'm making this all up and could be wrong. Sure the M3 is cheaper but I don't think the difference between spending $110k vs $140-150k on a car is really going to attract a widely different number of buyers.

The decision not to bring the M3 to the US was made years ago. It's likely the backlash from the M3 drove the decision to bring the M5 which was made much later. There was never any overlap in product planning.

I’ve said it on here before and still haven’t changed my mind based on what I’m seeing, but I’ll save judgment until fully revealed. At this point though, I think the RS6 Avant is the better looking vehicle.

I am starting to think that the reason for us not getting M3 wagon but M5 is that there will be so expensive that it will make sense for BMW to bring just M5 wagon and no regular 5series wagon. They might actually have enough profit there and it will not bite into x5 market. With love for SUVs here we will be getting every possible X and no wagons. Regretfully. I despise SUVs with really only few exceptions.

German companies did not bring these cars here because they are not popular . They love them in Europe because they are more practical in regions with limited garage space. We don't have this problem here,
this thread reminds me of the hype over the RS6 , everyone and their mother wanted one
a small dealer in my area has 4 of them sitting around that they can't move with heavy discount
without the Covid era , RS6 would have never sold well

What would be the point of pricing this 40k over the RS6? And, similar to its top of the line vehicle ?

Because BMW M thinks they can and are defiant. Just slap M badges on and jack up the price. Also, need to asorb the homologation cost for the US market, as only the M5 touring is coming stateside. M3 would have cost too much for homologation, thus the higher priced M5 touring. BMW AG can shift S68 engines from the XM to G99 and sell close to the same price point. The XM was R&D for the G90, G99, future M8 gran coupe, G65 M/G66 M.

Appreciate the Xmas camo hides the lines somewhat, but am I the only one that’s disappointed in the lack of swollen arches? I thought they’d have gone further, given the love the arches generate on both the RS6 and M3T.
