Question Quick Question about rims, fitting, and Spacers

I am thinking about getting wheel spacers for the rear, i have BMW Style Type 195 (Front: 18x8 ET34 225/40 R18W) (Rear: 18x8.5 ET37 255/35 R18W). Would I be safe with a 20mm spacer in the rear. I am also getting, BFGoodrich T/A KDW-2's 235/40/18 in the front and 265/35/18 rear. Would a 20mm spacer be okay, or a 15mm spacer? Which brand spacer should I consider?

Thanks.

I'd go with a 15mm spacer, either Rogue, H&R or Eibach. I've heard some good things about thoses tires.

I agree, I think the 20 would be to much.

Danny

I have the BFG's and they are awesome.

I would stay away from the H&R spacers. When I changed my wheels I had to take my 10mm H&R spacers off my rear hubs, well we noticed that one had a crack between the hub-centric ring and the spacer. The other ring was so cracked the ring easily snapped off of the spacer. The thin metal they use will corrode and rust to the hubs making them nearly impossible to remove, and easy to break.

I'm also considering spacers - which type do you recommend? Thanks.

I have 5mm Eibach and they are good. I believe the Rouge Engineering (RE) spacers come with a piece of thin material you can put between the spacer and the hub to prevent them from rusting together.

thanks for the good info everyone. I am now considering 15mm Eibach spacers.. I saw a set for 114.99 online. Is this a fair price?

Thanks, does Eibach make 12mm spacers? Also, do you know where I can get longer lug bolts that are black so that my rear will match my front? I've seen someone on this forum paint silver lug bolts, which was a pretty good idea that worked for him, but I don't want to do that.

If that includes the bolts that's about right. Maybe a little high, talk to James @ Creativeautoworks, let him know you talked to Ryan and he may be able to beat that.

Several things to consider:

- with taller diameter tire (8mm) and spacer, it will show visually more gap between the fender and the tires
- The car aceleration will be slowed down, longer gearing from taller tire diamater
- 20mm spacer will change the suspension geometry

interesting. Anyone notice any changed in performance. I always heard people say when they put on spacers the car handels slightly better because you are spreading the stance which lowers the center of gravity. I noticed my girls new 325 sport pack with different offsets in the rear there isnt so much gap like i have. My rims look like someone pushed them into the car. Her car handle amazingly. I was suprised for a 325i, so now ill be drive my 330 and her 325 the next couple of days to do a detail comparison.

Edit. This is Artz 330.

Increasing the width of the rear track does not lower the car's center of gravity, lowering springs do that.

I have 8.5" rears with 38mm offset and 18mm rogue spacers and I would not want them pushed out any further. In your case 15mm would probably be nice, but I would definitely not go larger than 18mm.
