F90 M5 vs Porsche Taycan
It will be out for sale this year ( revealed very soon ) and it has impressive performance.
0-62 very low 3 sec. M5 will be just a bit faster if not the same. The Taycan has very impressive repeatability, which is very amazing for AV!!!! Tesla S warns about repeated use of its brutal acceleration setting, the Taycan offers no such thing. In the video below Jonny Smith launches about 30 times without problems in Taycan. Similar to TTS. To archive this they use two permanent-magnet electric motors at each axle, which have a unique kind of assembly that allows more copper in each stator, improving output while simultaneously providing for more efficient cooling. ( also using liquid cooling for battery) Porsche also noted the thermal management system, which was built specifically for the Taycan to ensure this kind of repeatability.

Under 10 seconds is faster that M5C (BMW official quote is 10.8) but since I have a P100D I also know after 124mph the acceleration slows down significantly, I wonder how Porsche will do in this department. |

I'm excited about the next major M5 revision which looking at the prototypes, will probably incorporate hybrid tech. Still want the cold start and sound notes of the ICE so won't go full electric anytime soon.

I'm not knowledgeable about electric performance from a rolling start. From a dig I know they're incredible, does Porsche say anything about 60 to 120 performance?

Wow, it looks good too! Unlike Tesla is has tires with some width to them. Tesla just looks so tin can/plastic to me and the skinny wheels just kill the look.
This car looks good. I'm still holding off on Electric until I'm forced to buy one and even when I do, I'll still sleep with a can of gas next to my bed.. lol

The averaging sub 10 second 0-200 KM/hr over 26 passes in a row is quick. The Turbo S is about mid to low 9 seconds - high 9 seconds in heat. I have to believe the Taycan is at least a high 10 second car - and probably mid to mid high 10 seconds on full charge and cool temps. If the Taycan is a 10.5 car it is literally right in the Turbo S space. My guess is 10.6-10.8 but 10.5 will be possible.

I wish the interior was more like the 991 or first gen Panamera with buttons rather than everything being touch, but apart from that it is good to see what an actual car manufacturer can do when they want to make a medium-full size luxury sedan that is powered by batteries, we've only had small cars or SUVs like the i3 or Leaf and Kona or I-Pace.
This is definitely a big step forward.
