Valentine One issue
Hey guys!! My 2019 M5 Comp was delivered yesterday. Love it! I took my Valentine One out of my 2017 Mustang and hung it in the M5. It immediately started alerting continuously. When I hold the radar outside of the car, it stops.
Something inside the car is causing it to alert. Any ideas?? Thanks, Mike |

Which band is the alert for? I haven't had any issues with mine, but I do have some bands disabled, since they're not used in my country.

It's the laser band, I just activated it on my V1 and it immediately started alerting for a signal coming from the back. I have no idea what it is, but disabling the laser band fixes it (4th menu arrow must be down ).

Had this happen. Its Gesture Control IR signal setting it off. Turning off Gesture Control doesn't work cuz it continues to send signal that sets off V1, just doesn't act on it. You have to use electrical tape to cover the center area above the mirror to block the signal. Yep electrical tape. BMW electrical tape of course. Or better yet, get a Radenso Pro M. Much less chatty than V1.

Thanks guys. I will give these a try. I don't want to disable Laser because it is used heavily on the freeways I drive on, but hate the fact of electrical tape!! My wife is all about the radio and gesture controls. She would throw a rod if I put tape over the sensors!!!!! Might consider the Radenso.

best fix is to get a Uniden R3 or R7, or an Escort Max 360c.

My God, the Humanity of it. The Valentine One is the BEST!!!!! Hands down.
(JK) I just disabled laser, it's not used that much where i drive. I have had good luck with the V1 for years. Newest version has the software to ignore all the car radar that is used today. My old one is useless due every Tom,Dick and Harry having Radar coming form their car's. I suppose if I needed the laser detection, I'd disable the emitter with the black tape. And I hard-wired mine and if I change to some other brand I'll have to crawl under the dash again, and my back still hurts from the V1 and dash cam install. Mike

Cops here didn't have laser detectors until last year and I procrastinated up until yesterday to enable the Laser band on my V1. As you've said it, it's kind of pointless, unless you want to know you got trapped.

shut off the gesture control and put black electrical tape over the sensor in the upper console between the lights.

I have the same V1. I believe that is the sensor that controls display brightness that you taped there. The laser sensor is under the rear antenna glass to the right side I believe. On older models the lense bulb was actually under that right side glass until they incorporated it into that right side square glass. If you look at your remote display, you will see it has the same sensor in the same area as it controls display when you have it plugged in.
