Rho plate not firm enough?

Might be my OCD but I feel as of the rho plate leans towards the loose side of things. I find myself once a month or every few weeks having to retighten it because of wind and car washes.
I'm considering getting the gomingo plate holder and was wondering if it has the same issues or If it's more sturdy than the rho?

I just ordered the US millworks light version.

It looks like the best engineered license holder.

Does look pretty good. Mind posting a pic when you finished installing it?

I have had two gominigo's. One on my precious 330i and now on my M. They are solid and I have never had to adjust them.

If you want a picture on fittment on an E90 look at my photos here.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/album.php?albumid=5097

My vote is gominigo for sure.

US Millworks plate holder is by far the best option out there. I was worried about the plate holder rotating like other kits because I saw too many people looking funny with their plates hanging crooked. The US Millworks plate holder is 100% machines out of billet, and does not rotate. It is much sturdier than other kits and extends all the way to the edge so the sides of your plate don't start bending in. I've had it on my cayman for a few months and i'm happy I went with it. Its a little more expensive but I wanted to do it right the first time.

Did you see this quick release one. Expensive though nice functionality for quick on and off. Nice to be able to put it on to drive to an event and remove it in 15 seconds (or less) upon your arrival. Then pop it back on in the same amount of time for the drive home!

Some times a group buy is available for a discount.

Sorry, but $179 for a tow hook plate holder is a total ripoff. I thought my $80 US millworks plate was a bit too expensive but I was convinced since it is all billet and was machined. If you want to pay an extra $100 for quick disconnect, let me tell you that it takes 15 seconds to uninstall any tow hook plate. You just simply spin the plate ad it will unscrew out of the tow hook. Then you put the little cover back on and that's it. Maybe 5 seconds more time....not worth the extra money imo and the construction doesn't even look much better from the US millworks one. I uninstall and reinstall mine on my cayman every time I wash my car.....it takes only a few seconds.

How is the lightened version different than the regular?

edit: oops nevermind. Cored out and saves 7 ounces. I'd rather save the $30 and get the regular.

Just to be clear, I am not selling or even endorsing the MFest one. I was just offering one that others may not have seen.

I like the mfest one myself but like others say at $180.00 I would rather save my money. I purchased the gominigo and it is solid and it only cost $65.00. I could have purchased 3 gominigo's for that price. Someone is getting rich off those plate holders and pretty smart I must add because of all the people willing to drop that much money.

I have the GoMini and it's solid, BUT the sides if the plate will bend with time since the back plate doesn't go to the edge of the plate. It's also a little troublesome to get on tight since there's no clearance behind the plate and you can't get a large wrench behind it. You end ou doing something like a double nut technique to tighten it. It works but it took a while to figure it out.

Friends of mine with the Gomini and Rho plate have the same problem. Its hard to get behind it to tighten it down. that is another reason I went with the US Millworks holder. You tighten it just by rotating your plate. And to adjust the angle of the plate, there are 4 screws that secure a collar....after that just adjust and tighten those to your liking. This also goes all the way to the edges so your plate won't bend.

That's how I ended up tightening mine. Rotating the plate to tighten it but you had to play with it so it would be tight and level.

Never heard of this one before however it does look like a nice kit too. Many different ways that you can mount it. For those who don't know where to go the link is:

http://www.usmillworks.com/bmw_front..._tow_hook.html

As for the people who mentioned that their plates bend on the gominigo I can add that I have never head that issue. I have been running a gominigo on two E90's in the last 2.5 years with no issue. This may be due to the fact that I have a license plate frame attached which make it more difficult to bend.
