Carplay auto on/off

Im experiencing some different behavior from carplay in my 2021 m5c when I turn my car on and get in.

Sometimes carplay will pop up and other times it will be on the idrive stock navi and then I will have to go in the menu and click on carplay to get it to pop up on the screen

Is there any way to get it to automatically always pop up with Carplay?

I havent found a setting in the menus, hoping someone can help

Thanks!

I experience the same thing. Mostly mine defaults to OEM navigation. i think it depends how long it takes the car to connect to the phone. When i park in the garage my phone is prioritizing the house wifi and thus doesn't immediately connect to the car wifi. Also if it defaults to navigation, you can either just hit nav on the icontroller and option for carplay will be like 3 options down. or if you're on the bmw home screen you can just touch the carplay option in the top left of the screen.

Yeah I get what you're saying. I was hoping there was a way to default it to opening to carplay. Not the biggest deal but wouldve been nice.

thank you

+1 — exact same experience. I have to manually do it more often than not, and my SA has told me there is no way for it automatically connect.

CarPlay Auto turn on

I have the same question has anyone solved this yet? I would imagine this would be a simple setting to have it auto enable CarPlay on startup.
