Tire Pressure Light - All 4 tires
My tire pressure light came on this morning and the symbol is indicating its all 4 lights, I went to the gas station and did 36 in the front and 39 in the back. Turned the car off and back on and all the lights are still on, what exactly could be causing the light to stay on? Really hope I don't have to take it back into the dealer..
Anyone else have a similar problem? 2011 n55. |

I had it both on my Z4 & 535.
Left overnight in garage. Next morning warning lights on both cars. Reset computers and warning gone. It appears that an electrical storm affected computers -Weird |

1st you have to check all four tires for proper air pressure.
THEN you can reset the TPMS. You can only gain acess to the reset screen while teh car is on and stopped. Hit the reset button via the BC and then DRIVE. It will take a few hundred feet to a few miles before the TPMS learns the new target tire pressure. |

When my system went I could not do the reset. The system wouldn't respond. They tried a few things like replacing sensors and the receiver. The BMW field engineer finally found the problem. It was a broken wire of some sort going to the TPMS master unit/receiver. It sits beneath the front seat area, under the floor I believe. They initially blamed the problem on my aftermarket subs, but I knew they were wrong. They even had me bring the OEM subs, and they installed them, but no good. Once they found the actual problem, the tech was cool about it, and reinstalled my aftermarket subs. If the reset isn't available, you'll know because it won't even go into a resetting mode, then it could be an issue with the master unit. |

My car doesn't have separate tire indicators that I know of? Mine is a 2008 (basically an antique on this forum!)
Do the newer cars have separate indicators for each tire??? If so....cool!!!

With the latest SW update... you get a picture of a car with an arrow pointing to the flat or low tire. With the original SW you only get a low tire icon with a (!). Also with the latest SW update... IF you fully turn off the DSC you will now have a car skidding icon instead of a yellow circular arrow icon. Dackel |

Had the same thing happen to me a week or two ago; i.e., all four tires showing low. I checked tire pressures with the same gauge I always use and pressures were fine. I bumped them up a couple psi anyway figuring maybe my gauge was off compared to the cars sensor. Tried resetting the TPMS system via the BC, but it wouldn't let me. Tried a couple more times over the next few days and the TPMS alert wouldn't go away. And then, just as mysteriously as it appeared, it disappeared and has stayed off. Tire pressures are still at recommended levels (32 front/35 rear) according to the same gauge I've always been using.
P.S. My car is a '08 and it indicates which specific tire is low. That changed at some point because it used to just show the low tire icon. |

I HATE the TPMS that must be on all new cars now. It's a big pain in the ass. Every Winter.. several times during the Winter... I need to check and reset. And yes, it is difficult to reset because it takes several attempts before it starts the resetting process. Two days ago it went off again.. left front this time. Checked and reset.
Some dealers claim ntrogen fill makes the TPMS more stable and won't make it go off as much. (I think air is normally 78% nitrogen anyway. lol..) |

I had my car's SW update done in April,2011. While the update does give you new DSC icon (and changes the way it cuts in while driving) and it also gives you the new TPMS car icon... my biggest gripe is that the latest SW update also de-tunes the power of the 135i. It is very slight detune but it is very noticeable. You get increased turbo lag and the engine just seems to be much less responsive. That is what I noticed with my N54. But lots of of the guys with N55's seem to like the latest SW update. IF you have a N54 - I would stay away from this SW update for as long as you can! Dackel |
