Owner's Manual portfolio doesn't fit in glove box

Is this just me, or does the thing not fit in the glove compartment? Maybe it is just me, but with the documentation that came with the car, the portfolio doesn't fit. I have been keeping mine under the passenger seat. Not a big deal, but I find it a bit strange.

I hear that many people are keeping it in their trunk, under the mat in the storage compartment.

There is a small tray/shelf on the right side of your trunk. The manual fits perfectly there. It sits on top of the cover for the tool kit.

I don't think BMW meant the Owners Manual to be placed in the glove compartment, because it does not fit... My Owners Manual got some ugly creases after I put it in the Glove compartment.

I read some posts here on E90Post, and found a tip that you can place the Owners Manual in a designated place in the boot/trunk. That place is on the right hand side in the trunk/boot. Try it, you will see that the manual fits perfectly there. It's a little impractical when the car is new, because you read the Owners Manual frequently, and you want it to be easily reachable  ... the glove compartment would have been ideal .

Glove compartment would have been a better place

That's where mind is, under everything so it doesn't get messed up from whatever goes in the trunk.

It fit´s in the glove compartment once you figure out how. (You have to lift the rear end up a bit so it goes in deeper, using the cutout in the fusebox lid)

But then, why? I hardly ever need the manual after I´ve gotten used to the car. And as a reference in case of a malfunction, I can still allways get it from the trunk. There really is a perfect spot for it there on the toolbox that obviously has been designed for the manual.

I've removed the important literature- dealer locations, owners manual, etc and keep them in the glove box. I leave the portfolio on my bookshelf at home.

Hrmm...why are people saying that the manual is a 'perfect' fit above the tool lid cover? If you look carefully, the shape of that cutout is trapezoidal, whereas the manual is larger rectangular. The only place I can put this manual 'perfectly' is underneath the trunk compartment cover, in the top indentation to the left.

Not sure if anyone has seen the VW Bug solution, but it involves a dedicated netted slot on the door for the storage manual. It seems the BMW interior designers missed on this.

That´s not even a new idea. My 1987 VW Golf MKII had the very same compartment for the owners manual/ the service book
