I wasn't originally going to be back in an m5 so soon, had a rs6 Avant allocation ordered since early May with a deposit down. The SA and I had agreed on a price and two days before the car was due to freeze I am told they cannot honor that price. So I backed out of the deal to their joy because they had another guy who was willing to pay more. They couldn't give this allocation away in May cause of COVID but now that the asking is well over sticker, the dealers are taking advantage.
So I called around and the cars available weren't what I wanted so I called Dan at Next Level Auto Brokers and at the end of the day, got an allocation due to arrive before Christmas, got his advertised discount, and saved $600/month over an rs6.
I'm excited to be back but still a little disappointed not to have the rs6 after all the build up. My wife is happy because she dislikes Audi so I guess that's a plus.
Will post pics in December when the comp arrives but overall happy to be back.
man why is it such a common occurrence that audi dealers are scumbags?

just as bad as audi usa for such a botched launch of the rs6/7.

imo, you dodged a bullet. 1st year audis are complete shitshows. this coming from a former rs7 owner

When I was growing up Trump would have been referred to as a "traitor", and it appears our smart and very patriotic generals share that point of view. Thankfully, we have a majority of intelligent, thoughtful Americans that will elect his opponent in November. Donnie won't be able to tweet from his jail cell, but I'm sure he'll be happy to receive written correspondence from his loyal supporters.

Trash the dealer on Google reviews and whatever else they have. Trust me, they won't be as elated after that. If they want the review removed, have them compensate you in some say.

Don't let thieving dealers get away with this stuff. You just contribute to it when you don't publicly name them. What dealer was this? Name them.

Tell them to attach interest with that down payment when it comes back to you, too.

No wonder they were all to happy to have me drop my build.
$10k over MSRP vs. Happy, repeat client? Math doesn't add up to me...
Meh, they wanted the money now. No guarantee this guy was always going to buy something else from them after. I buy on price....and have never bought from the same dealer twice. Dealer loyalty means zero to me when I'm buying a $100k car....I buy from who gives me the best price, whether they are 10 miles away or 1000 miles away.

DCH Audi in Maplewood NJ
Owned by Lithia Motors based in Oregon.

Just went to pick up my deposit return this afternoon and the SA could not have been more disinterested. Walked me out and basically had a attitude of too bad and lit a cigarette. I actually had some sympathy for him because it sounded on the phone last week like he was overruled but that went out the door this afternoon.
I plan to leave a review on dealerrater.com and google reviews. Also have some local platforms.

I'd make sure I mentioned said sales rep's name and sales manager's name in these reviews.

Like others have said, though.....you came out ahead on this deal paying less for a M5. I know the RS6 has been hot, but to me and a lot of others....it's basic (I mean, it's a wagon for crying out loud) and downright slow compared to the M5. There is a reason MB and Audi and BMW don't release wagons here, people don't want them.

Unfortunately when the situation gets bad, i.e. pandemic or economic crisis or depression, and it seems we have one of these every 10 years or so to temper our overall enthusiasm, the majority of dealers chose short term profit over long term clientele building.

I think at MSRP they make around 10% (built-in) profit so if they sell it at $25k markup it’s the equivalent of selling 3 cars. And because of the convenience factor it will likely still be serviced there.

So I’m not surprised to read this OP, but it sure is dishonest. Most dealers I’ve used in the past have given me a bill of sale the moment I put down the deposit. On it, the car with all the options, agreed upon price minus my deposit, signed by both parties. 2 way protection.

In the end as others have mentioned you got the better car.
