Fire Totaled 6 series --> New 2021 M5 LCI Competition - My first true M car :)

I had a pretty bad house fire last Friday and lost a new Escalade ESV, 650i GC M Sport, Aston Martin Virage Volante, and a Ducati 999R

Thank god my family and I are ok but my toys are toast (literally). It's been one of the worst experiences in my life and the inconvenience to come is going to be tough. We probably won't be back into the house for 3 to 4 months.

So what do you do when you're sad and you go from 3.5 cars to Zero? You go car shopping

Went to BMW today to get my first M car. This thing is a beast!!!

Spent a ton in the last 2 days:

Wow, glad to hear you and the family are safe. I must say, those photos were incredibly painful to look at, especially that poor Aston.

I admire your incredible mental resilience!! When I would encounter such a loss, I would be feeling depressed. But indeed, live goes on. I wish you good luck with the restoration and the refurbishment. Also, all the luck with the new blue monster.

Thank you all for the comments. The smoke got into the house and caused about $400k of damage with a 3-4 month repair schedule. Worse part is we can't live in the house during that timeframe.

Love the new M5 so far but have only put about 15 miles on her

The lithium ion battery and the golf cart sparked and started the fire. They said the garage got up to 1100°F and essentially cooked everything in the garage. Extremely sad

Glad to hear that you and your family is safe, and congrats on already getting a new beast!

In the situation like this with that golf cart, will the insurance still pay out?

Thank you all.

Yes the home owners and car insurance companies will pay out and they are going after the golf cart charger and battery company for damages.

Glad you and your family are safe, everything else can be replaced. We had the same thing happen when I was in high school. My dad brought home a brand new Ford Thunderbird Super Coupe and parked it in the garage. About a half hour later the fire alarm went off and we went to the garage to find the car in flames. It also toasted my mom’s car that was also in the garage. The smoke from fires like this is nasty, stains everything and can’t be washed off. We were out of the house for about 6 months and had to replace most of our furniture, clothes, etc.

Wow! Sorry to hear and seems like the same situation we're in. So much of the contents in the house have to be replaced We are starting to add up all the damage on an excel sheet and its significant.

The worst part if that we have to live in a hotel for 3+ months for them to repair everything. With 2 adults, 3 young kids, and a 50# puppy.... UGH!

Yeah, if I remember correctly I think our final tally was around $500,000 for both cars, repairs to the house and replacement of contents - and that was in 1993!

We were in a hotel for two months, but luckily we were able to rent a house in our neighborhood for the last four months.

Nice! You're in Orlando? I'm in Tampa

Have you done anything to the M5. Thinking about a BM3 tune but worried about warranty issues.

There has to be a month to month home rental option! A hotel, even a luxury one, doesn't seem tenable for a family of that size...

Either way, glad the family is safe and good luck with the restoration. After a home fire many years ago, my then 85 yr old Mom said she always wanted to remodel the kitchen... #perspectives

First of all i'm terribly sorry to read about this. Thankfully you and the family are all well and safe. It was a heartache looking at that Aston.

Nevertheless congratulations on your brand new ride. Looking absolutely stunning. Enjoy it in good health!

In Gainesville actually. And no nothing significant yet - just minor cosmetic things. Would love to tune but don't want the warranty to be effected.

Yep in the same boat. Would love to get together soon!

Thinking about doing some carbon pieces on the F90 but not sure if I go M Perf or an aftermarket company.
