Hmmmmm.... we're in strange times. The tree-huggers have been convinced by folk making billions trading carbon credits that CO2 is the root of all evil.
I drove a Tesla recently and couldn't wait to get out of it. All the personality of an iPhone.
Indeed, it may accelerate fast but it was somehow meaningless to me without the Snap, Crackle & Pop we have in this M5 Comp and other ICE'd vehicles.
The engine in my M50d will never be seen again and soon, the 4.4 8Cyl turbos of the M5s will be laid to rest.
If you want aural luxury in 2030, your only option may be a 2018 M5 Comp.
As example, somebody just dropped €30M on a bag of bones! T-Rex fossil sells for record-breaking $31.8m https://www.rte.ie/news/world/2020/1...ossil-auction/
Definitely that. A family member has a Tesla Model S P85. Great car with great performance; that torque really pushes you back in your seat, but I could not deal with lack of characteristic engine noises of a performance ICE car. (Yes, I hate to admit I'm one of those guys that drives around in sport and sport+ most of the time just for the intoxicating noise).

(My wife will inevitably get an EV next regardless, most likely a Tesla). She insisted on an EV plug in the garage when we met with the electrician).
Lol, very same... don't have the volume yours produces but it's better than most of the other cars on the road.
I reckon we're at the zenith of motoring now. Amazing ICE cars are available but EVs are the near future and speed checks are everywhere.
It's stressful driving quick now.
I got nailed from 1600m (1 mile for the yanks) here in Ireland a few months back. Between cameras and lasers -we're not far from your Connected Drive grassing you up for minor breaches.
Check this bas^%d out...
Wow, that's some sneaky Ba$tid! We have them here too (however never seen one like that). Ours are in their cars on the side of the road hiding behind trees or billboards. I got nailed on the interstate going from New Jersey into New York State. Lidar/ laser got me instant on.

Changing gears. we reached a deal tonight on my 2019 911 C4S trade value and put the order in for my LCI F90 Competition!! Probably won't see it until December (he had an allocation build put in tonight). It will be a beast! MBBlue, Silverstone, Dark aluminum carbon structure,, black rims, Competition pkg, Driving Asst, Executive pkg, red calipers. Now the waiting game!
Only way to deal with that is an integrated laser jammer! Genevo HDM+ w/ ALP is a good setup.

So jealous of that X5M... be thankful your starting price before any packs or other toys isn't US$217,000 like it is here!
Thanks! Thought about a jammer at one point but I've only gotten a couple of tickets (and they were big ones) over the past several years for short "spirited" runs where it got away from me, otherwise my Escort Max 360 radar works very well and I'd definitely recommend it (most police use Ka band here). That might change when the M5 Competition comes in December though, so will have to be one my toes.

Pricing is not as bad here. My M5 Comp has an MSRP of $118,145 US as I optioned it.,

Jaysus! They're giving M5's away in the 'States by comparison. 😢😢
They love laser here and handheld radar is banned as it's linked to testicular cancer!!

On a humourous note, we're in a Lvl. 3 lockdown here ...no intra-county travel allowed so PoPo check points everywhere. Check this out, image taken Oct 6th 2020, van on right is a mobile speed van running a Redflex radar-video system! 🤣🤣🤣

I'd bet on the M5 beating the turbo S. And the upcoming M5 CS would take it to another level.

The M5 is just a class leader. My only gripe is that it's too insulated - get rid of the fake engine fluff, tighten the downshifts, widen the hips a little more, and you have a near perfect car.
The new Panamera 2021 righted many of the wrongs with the pano. It just blazed around the ring much faster than M5 Comp

They dropped the regular turbo and now for 2021 offer a non hybrid pano turbo s with 620 hp and over 600 lb feet of torque. Porsche and their conservative numbers say 2.9 to 60 which will likely be 2.7 and 1/4 mile in the 10's no problem

The M5 is much less expensive and the result in this race are impressive.

I think will be a different story lining up all the LCI's

Saw those stats too. However the car is 300lb heavier with negligible power difference. My money is still on the M5 which has already beaten the E-Hybrid and GT 63 S in a straight line.

But this is just armchair analysis - agree that we need a drag race soon

The e hybrid weighs 5500 lbs or something crazy. The new turbo s is 300lbs heavier than the M5 comp. My point was simply that I'd like to see the 2021's battle

My bet is on the pano. PDK alone will make it faster

The race would be interesting! Looking forward to it. My $ on the M5.

I'm also curious to see how much the faster the M5 LCI (and 2020 M5C) is compared to the 2019 M5C due to the newer transmission. Owners of both have seen discernible improvement.

Anyone know what type of vbox/timer box that they were using? Looked interesting

EDIT: Nevermind found it. It's a racebox. ~$300 retail for a 10Hz unit. Probably just gonna stick with my dragy

🤣 T-Rex fossil sells for record-breaking $31.8m https://www.rte.ie/news/world/2020/1...ossil-auction/
I agree with the last of an era thought.

That's why between my wife and I we have a bi turbo V8 (C63S) and a twin turbo M3 comp pack. I always wanted a V8 and needed a touring, so two birds killed with one stone.

I took a ride in a friends Tesla, but it was soulless and the seats so soft, you fell out in corners. The lack of sound just didn't feel right too.
Totally agree that times are changing. Even though VW via their Dieselgate accelerated this "tech. progress", I have decided to keep my first generation Audi RS6 Plus (that only came in Europe and only as an Avant and only 999 were made as seen in the VIN - all as a 2004 model year) with 480 HP and a gruesome sounding V8 Bi-turbo. First Audi with the Sport Exhaust/black tips and first Audi restricted to 280 km/h. In Daytona grau with natural black leather its a keeper - next to my 2018 F80C in Maldives Blue metallic. But two different animals though!
An M5 CS in Maldives Blue (sorry but I love that color sooo much!) should be welcome to join my little garage
