Musk wins the prize for coolest video ever. How can you top a real Tesla droptop circling the Earth? Or Mars?

Even though it was a school night, we watched it live. It's pretty bloody cool to watch one man giving kids everywhere goals and making science cool again.

I read that the capsule was going to orbit Mars, and a different article stated it was going to orbit the sun. Can anyone confirm where this thing is headed? I always thought the intent was to send it into orbit around Mars.

It's heading for the sun so it can use its gravity to sling it into a Mars trajectory. So both, sorta.

Anyway that launch and landings was amazing. Shame about the core not making it, but that’s certainly a failure anyone would take on this test flight. It would have been nice to have the core booster to physically inspect to see if everything went according to their simulations, but they will examine the telemetry data to determine that and see why the core didn’t make it.
Apparently, the core ran out of fuel and crashed into the drone platform at sea.

Military gave us the internet. Porn gave us the reason to have it in every home. Then something weird happened and porn became a secondary thing when people figured out saying bad shit online is more fun than making your dog shit on the neighbors lawn.

The point is that from medical industry to our lazy arses avoiding cooking dinner, the governments all over the world do the first push, then businesses come up with ways for us all to become lazier while we enjoy the benefits. It is the way the human race makes progress which is quite hilarious.

This is true. I have a few friends that work at SpaceX and they all have said the same. One of them works 6 days and a minimum of 50hrs a week. She loves it though. She gave my gf and I the opportunity to go on a tour of SpaceX headquarters in Hawthorne and it was so cool to see what goes on in there. No pics of inside were allowed, of course, so we just put our phones away and took in the experience. There are no tour guides. Your tour guide is the person that invited you, so spent about 3 hours roaming around the facility with her as she explained what she was allowed to to us. It was amazing to stand behind one of the control centers (same one you saw in the live feed) with the first dragon capsule hanging above you. We also saw the fairings that I'm sure were used for this last launch; they were huge, and made in halves.

If you know someone that works there, and get an invitation, definitely GO! Or if you're in the LA area, make a quick pass by to see the first booster that made a vertical landing. It's just out front on the corner of the streets. You won't be able to go inside the area unless you're on a tour, but it's just glass and you can see it perfectly from outside.

I did not do that. I don't use leashes so my dogs do it on their own. (I used to live next to my mom)

Totally photoshopped and poorly I might add, everyone knows the earth is flat.

When the aliens find that thing long after we blew ourselves up, they are going to think we flew into space in convertible sports cars. Probably think we were badass motherfuckers.

You totally missed my thread on this subject!

I don't know what the flatties say to this since now corporate world also is supporting this conspiracy (a conspiracy they uphold via satellites but they're not big on details).

Exactly !!

How can it be that NASA couldn`t do this? (Yes Ik know Washington Politics)

US space traveling is impossible since the withdraw of the Space Shuttle, sending astronauts to the ISS can only be done by Russian help (witch is a disgrace IMHO)

With upcoming space "markets" like China, India, Russia once again, Japan the US have some stiff competition to meet.

The SLS is developing as we speak, but very expensive, and has been postponed some times already.

I know the US has the ability, the technical know how/expertise, come on let`s do it again, we need another Wernher von Braun.
The stars are the future, there is no other way, the milky way it is..........
