I'm surprised that people actually think the M2C won't affect the OG M2's resale value. What's the reasoning there? Given the two options, putting the subjective bits aside, you do have a more powerful engine in the M2C with better seats and an upgraded interior.

If I was shopping for an M2 in 3-4 years and had the option between the two, there would only be one option (the M2C). I just don't see how the less powerful, more dated car will stay on the same depreciation curve when the M2C is likely to have such a minimal bump in MSRP over the OG M2.

I love that you are quite literally, all over the place, when it comes to what you want to do with your stable.

I am the same way and people think I am nuts.

If you go that direction, make sure you get a 2016 or 2017 981.

Your ears will never be the same, in a good way.

The M2 CS is finally a good bang for the buck sports car.
Then I would have never have bought one.

The s55 is a garbage sounding engine.

High hopes for the S58.

That is logical thinking. I could see the N55 M2 carving its own niche in second hand market, at a lower price point. The N55 M2 is and will remain a really good car.

Funny you say that. I'm not sure what kind of automotive knowledge you have, or how many times you track your car, and how hard you track your cars... but BMW 1M (which has 135 engine, not the V8 from M3) is going down the history as one of the best M cars they ever made. BMW basically took that concept and created M2 and has received amazing reviews from almost all car reviewers; Chris Harris called it a "real M car" several times during his review.

Now that BMW is putting S55 (don't forget, it's detuned and 120lbs heavier)in the M2 Comp, people are trash talking about the current M2 like it's a 228. The current M2 is still freaking monster of a car in this size.

as a matter of fact, I was just drooling at an M2 rolling down the street. it looked amazing and sounded like no other. no regrets here as my current M2 is already a bargain at full price for me.

Jesus, here we go again. If the upgraded N55 wasn't "designed for M duty," BMW wouldn't have put an "M2" badge on the back of the car.

I'm guessing you've never driven an N55 M2. Coming from an N55 335i to my '18 M2, I can assure you that the two different N55 applications behave nothing alike.

Is that price with any freight fees etc., or just the base MSRP? Did they give you an options list?

All colours except white were the add on price in MY2016-2018. I do not see that changing. They just cited the new colours.

They have split out several options that were previously standard (smokers package, storage package, HK sound system and speed limit info). So the price hike is almost $8K CDN in reality (though with upgraded brakes and seats included)... if this is accurate.

Edit: I see they have included the adaptive LED and Carplay as standard, were options in 2018. So knock off $1300 from the difference... ~$6500 bump.

Not sure what this says with respect to U.S. pricing... we will find out soon I guess.

Not sure about that... Just checked 2018 M2 in BMW Canada's website and both Adaptive headlights ($1000) and Apple CarPlay ($750) were optional on the 2018 model. Plus, if I was in Canada, I would be happy not to have those unnecessary options anyway (smoker's package, speed limit info, etc). Anyways, I'm totally ok with this type of price increase in US if we will get BBK, new 788M wheels, and seats standard as well.

So in Belgium, the M2 would still start at 61000€, and the M2C would start at about 68000€. And you could still get a decent discount on the M2, while the more exclusive M2C would have been sold with about zero discount - until the possible arrival of a M2CS...

I'm pretty sure that in such a scenario, some would still have bought the standard M2, as some are still buying the standard M4 instead of the M4ZCP. It's a question of taste and budget...
True they probably would have, but my hypothetical scenario was to show people generally would want the S55 car over the N55 if prices were similar. I think when it comes to the used market very few will be looking for the N55 car, which is going to make it a great deal for those that do want it.
