Would you go that large.....

I suspect this should be in the wheel section, however wanted a broad depth of response if at all possible and so here goes!

Does going for a 22inch wheel with a 25 tyre wall sound like madness if at all possible?

I don't have a comp and so the current set up is very smooth when in standard.

I have seen many on here select 21s and so there must be a very good reason and perhaps the ride will be too hard, however the majority on here have the comp with harder suspension set up.

Looking forward to your comments as always before I place an order.

I am no expert however, I would think it would change the suspension geometry so much that ride would suffer. not to mention ware and tear.

22's have been done on several cars here; IIRC Wheels Boutique did 22" ANRKY's on an early M5.

I'm on 21's and HR 550 springs; I went this route based on past setups on two different F10 M5's.

Aesthetically, 21's are pleasing to my eye when paired with the right suspension to provide a more aggressive look. Ride quality is obviously not OEM and you certainly have more exposed wheel so curbs and bumps can be more of an issue.

I've never had a desire to do 22's because I feel it is too much wheel for this car and ride quality will further suffer.

All of this is my opinion and obviously subjective so go with whatever works for you.

Hi Josec,

I ordered some 21's fully forged for my '18 Base M5. I've ran aftermarket wheels on my F10 but they were 20's. I was so undecided which size to go on the F90, but decided 21's since I mostly daily drive, a few street races here and there and 2-4 1/4 and 1/3 mile events.

Will I hate driving on 21's? I know we should run 30 profile tires, will I feel every bump lol? Did you end up going 285/295 or 275/285 or 275/295 - 30?

You'll be fine and the car is going to look great with the 21's.

I think the ride quality on the HR550 springs is very good, feels every bit OEM and no, you will not feel every bump. I was originally on KW HAS kit and was not happy so I moved on.

My setup is 295/275 (30) and I've had zero issues over the last 2+ years. Some guys are running 285/295 as well which is more in line with OEM 20" setup so something you may want to consider.

Here's a pic of my set up.
