The good news is - that since I may be one of the first CP owners - I will be taking it to the track the moment the break in is complete. I did the same for my M550 - Bimmerpost covered it as I was the first...

Anyone going to the strip, test your LC before going. I can use LC in the street but not at the track. The front brakes are not clamping hard enough to hold the car perfectly still that you need in staging. You will slightly roll forward and red light. I’m going to burnish my brakes this week and see if that fixes it. If not, time for softer front brake pads.

Are you going straight into launch control and it is not holding, or just preloading with brake/gas? Up to what RPM does it hold? |

Steels. Straight to LC. Same method with my X5M holds all day long at 2800rpm. M5 starts to slowly creep. Fine for Vbox or Draggy street runs. Not fine on the track. LC goes to 2800rpm. Can not adjust it downward to see what rpm would hold. No biggy....just something to figure out.

Yikes...please do let me know - I just don't think this car should need to do burnishing - especially on steelies. That said - please let us know and good luck!

Short term answer is to heat the brakes up and they will hold. My X5M holds fine cold. M5 does not. M5 pads dust less and are quiet. X5M pads dust a lot, squeal from brake dust, but cold clamp like a champ. So make a couple of hard stops to get the rotors and pads hot and the M5 is fine. Get caught in an hour long staging lane at the track, you’re screwed. (Or ride the brakes as much as you can as the lane advances).

Here's my slip. Apparently I need to go home and practice launch control. I've been reading up on it and its possible I wasn't hitting the gas quickly enough to the floor to get it to kick in.
Another thing I saw about launch control is that the car may be short shifting first to improve acceleration. Has anyone heard of getting bigger turbos for the M5? I saw an M4 video with some built up turbos. Maybe it'd make a better track car. I tested out an M4 once though and thought it wasn't what I was looking for. Good news. Burnishing fixed my problem. It now clamps like a champ. Let it sit for 2 hours at my shop, drove off and did not touch the brakes for a 10 minute drive. Stopped, straight to LC...,. Perfect Hold !
