Seems a lot of the issues here are being pushed onto the wrong people. The owners are to blame in all of these instances.

Tuners are in the business of making money. Long gone are the days of simple garage tuning. Most of these idiots who believe they are tuners are guys who simply seized on an opportunity to make easy, fast cash. Mix that with lazy owners who have no interest in caring for a modded car THE RIGHT WAY and you will have bad results.

Owners are not doing their research and there is not enough data out there to suggest who is legit and who is not because on here, unlike in the S55 forums, there is a serious lack of reporting. With more power comes smaller margins of error and because of embarrassment or pride, owners blowing engines are not being reported on here. It's either that, or the S63 is way more reliable than the boogeymen on this thread are making it out to be.

While I agree that owners are ultimately responsible for anything that happens when they decide to tune their car, selling tunes as 91 pump gas ok is nothing more then marketing at it's worst. It is setting up people to fail, especially when you consider the M5 demographic are usually finance/business owner/upper management execs and professionals who neither have the time nor the experience with wrenching on engines and thus are depending on the tuner to be honest about what they are selling them.

You shouldn’t even be running 91 octane in these cars stock let alone tuned. It says right on the cap 93 octane recommended, 91 oct absolute min. Not much room for a tune with 91 octane…

Is that for the Canadian version? We don't have 93 available here in California.

We have 94 octane here. It’s 91 with 10% ethanol added. It’s not at every location, about 1/4 have it.

Most are 87/89/91.

Nice! Best we have locally is 91, although I do have a local station that sells E85, but I haven't messed with mixing.

If you 91 is pure gasoline, definitely start mixing with e85, these cars love octane!

I gained 2-3mph and half a second in the 1/8th with drop in filters and switching to 94octane pump from 91.. car ran like shit on 91.

shouldn't a gallon or two of e85 with 91 be good enough?

You can do the math. Roughly, 21 gallons 91 plus 1 gallon 114 E85. If the gallon of E85 gives 1 of its extra points to each of the 21 gallons of 91, there is enough to get to just over 92.

It achieve e30 I believe you need almost 5 gallons of E85 to the rest 93 pump. For e20 I think its 2 1/2 gallons of E85

not sure, i usually just focus on the E content. I used this and figured out what the amount of pump gas being 13.5g of 93 and 4.6g of E85 would be to fill a tank. This is what I did to achieve E30. That is what I did when I ran e30 stage 1, other than that I just add 2 1/2 gallons of E85 to a fill up which gives the stage 1 93 file some extra kick.

Not say it’s the cause though possibly sharing an indirect related condition how much these motors may need to be maintained more often. https://f90.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1859864

Another "Keep your rods safe tip"
Dont lug the engine. Dont make it pull hard from super low RPM. Be VERY careful shifting.

99 RON ... check

Don't lug the engine ... check

change the oil frequently ... check

warmup engine before WOT ... check

I'm assuming some form of steady state running before switch off? especially after hot laps?

switch off ASS? it annoys me the engine switches off a few yards down the road following a cold start.

Dont think I really need any more than 600bhp, but good to know how sensitive these engines are to not doing the above.
