New M5 Owner

Just picked up my 2019 M5 on Friday - Black Saphire Metallic. Unfortunately the delivery of my car coincided with Toronto's first major snowstorm of the year so haven't driven it much and it is filthy - nicer weather coming this week so more miles and a good bath!

This is my first BMW and love it so far - the power is amazing and everytime i downshift the pop and crackle from the sport exhaust puts a huge smile on my face.

Two questions:

Which key do people use - The display key seems like a bit of a gimmick as I can access all of the display features (and more) on my phone (BMW Connected). It is also bulkier, has no place to connect to my keychain and I assume the screen is fragile (likely to get scratched if I keep it in my pocket with change or keys. I am inclined just to use the standard key.

Really dumb questions but, where do you put the owners manual in the car - doesnt seem to fit in the glove compartment or the door pocket

Congrats on the car!
In US we don't have the big display key
Also user manual is in I Drive too

Old habits die hard . . . I am coming to the conclusion that BMW never intended for the hard copy of the manual to be stored in the car but just checking to see if I missed something?

It fits nicely in the compartment on the right hand side of the trunk. That is where mine is.

Congratulations on the car and welcome to the BMW family!

Mine came with a Manual; throw it in one of the trunk compartments.

Thank-you!

I just tried again and it does fit. I have the air freshener which takes up some of the glove compartment. If I lay the manual on the door, to the right side, it will clear the air freshener and close. Not much room in there so I need to get used to the electronic version and leave the hard copy at home.

My owners manual fits in the Glove box, just have to place it just right.

Now, I'm not sure but the Canadian Manual may be larger? You know, Larger Print 'Ah?

(My wife is Canadian, she will kill me for that joke.)

Gang - I appreciate the support but didnt mean to start a battle . . . unfortunately so far off topic and not worth the effort. Bottom line I found a place for my manual (for now anyways) and the display key is unique to Canada so most people are just using the regular key which is where I was leaning.

Thanks for the help!

Love the car and look forward to participating in the future - will try to ask "smarter" questions ;-)

Yes, usually it's snapper rocks blue and mother-in-law comments.

Canada here also. Used the display key for a couple days and then put it away. Pretty much useless

It's good idea but, I wish I wouldn't have one at all.
