Baruth Drives the M5C

Jack Baruth’s review of the M5C. Seems like a fair assessment, what say ye?

Meh 😑

I’ve got 4 generations of the M5 sitting in my garage. Need to find an E39. F90 on order. They are different and have their strengths/weaknesses. For sheer fun - I’ll say E60. Balls out effortless speed with a wicked exhaust note. Long trip - F10. E28 for a no nannys spin. Very fun. E34 - no nannys - a bit more comfort.

It’s a pretty darn impressive machine. Does it all with 4 passengers. Nitpicking review.

The only thing I definitely agree with him on is the paint color. Too flashy.

I think the reviewer has missed the point.
Performance with Lux/exec bias G30 is 540 and 550.
Performance with track focus, you do not choose a 5 metre long 2 tonne car, so there is M2/3/4.
M5 is for people who want effortless performance with Lux/exec features. Who understand that it's not a track focused car but the knowledge it is capable on track although they may not ever track it. That it's sporty gait means a little more stiff suspension and tyre noise, and exhaust noise but not so much it's punishing or annoying, it's just an underpinning reminder of the huge performance available. People who need the space and practicality. People who appreciate the ultimate engineering development of a mass produced 4 door ICE car. People who understand that it is a multi role car that you can drive daily like any other 5 series. It won't be the best on track, or the best riding exec but is one of a handful of cars produced today that has the best compromise of all these things. People like me 😊

I always chuckle when reading these reviews… The M5 can be so many versions of itself, they should have a disclaimer at the beginning of the review, that this test was done in this mode, with this on and that off.

Not sure about the rest of you, but when you click everything into comfort mode vs sport plus, exhaust valve, traction on or off, 2wd vs 4wd. This car can be anything you want it to be. I mean, obviously there is limitation in the hardware, but there is a large difference in driving characteristics from comfort mode to full out sport plus, traction off and 2wd.

Yeahhhhh, thanks for posting, OP, but I think that he “says” a lot here, without really saying anything at all. Plus his writing style was all kitschy and what not. He had to set himself apart somehow, since he is so late to the party, in reviewing the M5. So, I guess he likes the Bowers & Wilkins and…not much else…? Ok, well super grand, dude. This obviously isn’t the car for you. Those who get it, get it.

He just gave a stupid review of the M5. LOL. I completely disagree with him that the Competition Package and the ceramics brakes are not needed. For me, they were the first 2 boxes that I checked.

I agree completely that the Competition package is an absolute must, no if ands or buts about it.
But just to play devil’s advocate, the CCBs didn’t make sense for me. If I drove my car to it’s limits like some of you guys who I’m jealous of, or I was leasing it, then absolutely. For me, it’s a daily driver, with some very spirited mountain or county road driving. Since I plan on keeping the car indefinitely given it’s probably the last ICE M5 we’re going to see, I accepted the fact that I’m too cheap to change the brakes when they eventually needed it, and for my driving the steel brakes are still very very impressive.
Of course everyone’s needs are different and I’m still jealous of people with CCBs, just didn’t make sense for me.
