+1! They are way worse offenders around me than BMW drivers. Plus they’ll give you a large dose of pompous high horseness and the accompanying side eye for driving an ICE vehicle.

Yes, but we could take that back! All we need to do is orchestrate a group buy and weekly representation:

Ive been saying this for YEARS!!!! Tesla drivers are for sure the worst.... With Mustang drivers following close behind IMHO. BMW drivers are in there somewhere.... But at least BMW drivers have are ALWAYS better drivers, and ALWAYS have the fastest cars (no sarcasm at all here, incase anyone wondering) |

So many good memes on instagram about Tesla drivers....
Don't want to deal with YouTube video link, but this one is great, doing some sweet sexy yoga/pilates/dance routine in the meme... so good I personally find it hilarious to troll Tesla owners at the charging stations, should probably start an IG account trolling Tesla charging stations, like influencers in the wild type of account. |

I got shade once. Parked next to a modded M440. Dude happened to walk to his car as I walked away and I wouldn't have even seen him had he not said -
"Oh, you just had to park next to me to show off your bigger engine?" Man, I parked next to him cuz I felt the odds were in my favor he wouldn't ding my door, lol. |

For whatever reason on two recent quick trips to Houston I've had Hyundais riding my butt. I started walking away from one on 99 in Houston but the son of a gun was stubborn as all hell and was keeping pace at 125-130mph and I wasn't interested in continuing on at that pace because that's just stupid on non-empty roads. Then I had another one riding my bumper on 290 just outside of Giddings so I walked him from 100 to 155 (flat, straight, empty road ahead when I did that) and then slowed back down. He was actually pretty cool about it and when he caught back up got next to me with a huge grin and big thumbs up.
Around town I've had some M3/M4s want to run but most of the time I ignore. Had this one guy in an X6M who thought he was God's gift to drivers insist on outpacing me down Mopac and then onto 290 cause he apparently couldn't bare the idea of being passed by me at any point. Otherwise I think most folks don't realize what the M5C is unless they're car peeps. Then it's usually a big thumbs up. Rolled next to a cherry red 80s Lambo Countach in mint condition last week and the guy made it a point to pace me and point to me/my M5C with two big thumbs up. Loves me some awesome car guys like that -- IYKYK All in all I'd say my experience has bene a mixed bag, but most people don't realize what the M5 is unless they're already car guys, and I like it that way -- keeps most of the squids at bay. |

Here in the UK, the very idea of the M5 (especially in Comp spec) being a 'sleeper' is just nonsensical. Since taking ownership, I've never understood the applicability of the label. In a country where most saloon drivers are either wafting around in generic hybrids or sanctimoniously perched in their fridge-like Teslas, trundling down a local street in my F90 makes me feel like I'm in something extremely exotic. It turns heads every day, and I've never felt like I can fly under the radar. So, given the attention I attract literally whenever I take it out, I tend to mooch very respectfully around town: indeed, I love sticking assiduously to those 20mph limits which are increasingly popular in urban areas; of course, that thoroughly annoys the impatient folks behind, who promptly tailgate me. But then again, I love the thought of behaving sensibly and wasting their precious time in a leviathan that could demolish their bland dailies in seconds.
On motorways over here, the tailgaters (my bête noire) are usually mid-range diesel Audi A5s or plonkers in giant SUVs (Range Rovers or those bulbous SQ7s). At which point, I relish blipping the throttle at 70 and effortlessly turning them into a spec in the rearview mirror. As for attitude of other performance drivers, they're by and large generous and enthusiastic. Lots of thumbs up on the road, and admiring chats with strangers at fuel stations. I think we aficionados over here increasingly feel like we're an endangered or renegade population, given the zealous campaign by governments across Europe to force everyone to 'switch' to EVs. So, whenever I encounter other car folks on the road who are themselves driving something interesting, I'm more likely to encounter mutual affection and solidarity than the competitive appetite to give me an impromptu race.

I also get turned heads, “nice car”s, and thumbs ups, but it’s mostly from people who know their cars. The M5 is a sleeper to people who don’t know cars may be a more applicable statement, and that is most people.

[QUOTE=ResIpsaLoquitur;30191977]I think a lot of the owners who say it’s low key or a sleeper are talking relative to other cars, perhaps (some) ones that offer some similar performance metrics to the M5.
I also get turned heads, “nice car”s, and thumbs ups, but it’s mostly from people who know their cars. The M5 is a sleeper to people who don’t know cars may be a more applicable statement, and that is most people. You're absolutely right about the sleeper epithet being relative: in comparison to the exaggerated flares and in-yer-face aesthetic of the RS6, for example, the F90 is positively conservative. But I suppose my point was that nowadays I get plenty of attention precisely from those folks who don't really know their cars (I've heard the comments with the window down: 'wow, what is that?!'). Which is why context seems matter to how we might view and drive these beasts of ours (or at least in Europe, where it will soon be considered heresy to operate something with 8 cylinders). Here in the UK, outside central London (where people blast around narrow streets in overpowered SUVs to show off their wherewithal) the public fleet has become so generic and homogeneous (we just don't have the varied community of muscle cars and interesting hotrods like you guys) that I've begun to feel increasingly self-conscious at the helm of something that's supposed to be the epitome of understatement. Which of course it still, so elegantly, is. And don't get me wrong, that self-consciousness brings its own pleasures..!

I get this more in my 911. My wife always accused me of being the instigator, until she was driving it and was amazed with everybody trying to race her. 😁

I have all kinds of idiots trying to race me. Yesterday, IN TRAFFIC, some Tesla kept stomping on the accelerator next to me and then slowing down like he was trying to race or something. There were cars all around us and it was in town, and I wouldn't have raced him anyways (old Model S 60)

Parked in a secluded spot for dinner one night. As I finished parking, a silver Ferrari pulls up and backs into the space right in front of me (obviously also looking for a secluded, safe spot). I said “Damn, you just had to do that to me, didn’t you?”. We both got a laugh out of it.

There is one guy in a GT3RS in my neighborhood and another in a 600LT, neither one drives like a grandpa, and my car is always cold when I come across them
