N54-585whp. M57-???whp

Looks like some awesome tunes going on in the n54 section. Squeezing every drop of power from that motor. Makes me wonder what the true limit of out M57 is.

Torque rating of the transmission is the limiting factor.

I am certainly aware, but wondering what the possibilities are in terms of HP, flatter power curve, etc. I'm following the evolve thread with interest.

The point of my post is that they have more than doubled the crank hp...

Well the most potent stock N57 is 381hp and 740NM with the new 50d as seen in the M550dx. The rev limiter has also increased to beyond 5500rpm. With tunes, the 400hp mark will be smashed.

Shiv's car just put down 627 today. IMO the diesel will likely never match the HP of the gasoline counterpart (mostly because we don't turn the RPMs) but, it could make considerably more torque if the aftermarket were to step up to the table.

That said who really wants their d to billow smoke and sound like a big rig? If I were after crazy amounts of power I would have bought something else. I'd like to optimize what the factory equipment can do possibly with minor bolt ons.

Considering the popularity and gains seen among the diesel truck crowd by just adding a water/meth kit I am surprised BMS/Terry has not designed a kit for the 335d, esp considering they have a diesel at their disposal. This is one relatively simple mod I would like to see hit the market.

I would even consider a DPF delete and definitely a DEF delete if there were significant improvements with them and the remap was able to keep it from making an excessive amount to soot. I would also consider an intake and possibly an IC but, that's about as far as I would go with it.
