I purchased mine as well. My first M car and I plan on keeping it about 6 or 7 years.

36 months, and hopefully there will be something new and faster or equally fast, otherwise I'll just upgrade to the competition model and probably just try a different color.

I will hold it until the Hybrid one comes out. That's the real reason BMW did not build a brand new engine for the F90 M5, they have a Hybrid engine on deck.

I thought I’d keep the F10 for a long while. I lasted 14 months. The traction (or lack thereof) was unbearable. The F90 has solved that, and dramatically improved the tech side as well. I’ll probably keep mine 3 years, up until I can afford a 2nd fun car like a Porsche GT3 then the M5 is just a daily.

I change vehicles based upon whether they disappoint me. So far, my M5 is a dream on 4 wheels. While I could afford a new one every 2 years, I choose to consider my $100K+ purchases carefully, avoid boredom and the "gotta have the lastest bestest", and appreciate that a classic vehicle is a joy to drive for well over 100,000 miles. So, for me, it's about 7 years.

I'm currently only at 9 over 10 years (and that's only owning 1 car at a time, and I also kept my Sierra Denali during that period for about 3 years). It's still early (only 7 months in), but I think the F90 will last the longest.

I keep buying more expensive car so it forces me to keep it but it's not working. Lol When you are big car enthusiast you will spend it and nobody can stop you
